We will be picking up where with left off with magic now dead, and it looks like at least the early part of the season will focus on the characters being sent of a quest to bring it back. That quest will involve a ship called the Muntjac, which is apparently a big deal for people familiar with the books.
The trailer doesn't really touch on it, but we do see a couple glimpses of the fairies in the Eliot and Margo's castle, so it looks like they're still around .
No mention of any of the other cliffhangers or set ups from the finale.
It was also announced a couple weeks ago that Felicia Day will be joining the cast as a new character who helps the characters on their epic quest.
I'm hoping that the fact the fuck in Eliot's line about the quest sounding like something he'd fuck up means that they won't be censoring it anymore, because that was really starting to get on my nerves last season.

Blood Drive really went all in with uncensored f-bombs so it’d be nice if they follow suit with Magicians which could really use it.

Syfy's Youtube page has a couple of short new trailers, both are mostly just footage form the longer trailer, but I think there are a few new clips in both of them.

Syfy is leading the way for basic cable as far as I can tell with allowing uncensored language. If any series called for it, it's The Magicians.

The pop culture coded communication was a highlight as was The Great Cock. I don't think the series has always shown its full potential but I do enjoy it and it seemed like a solid start. Seems this season will be the quest for keys and magic.

Yeah, what's up with the censored f-bombs. It's kind of off-putting. Either don't write them into the script or don't censor them.

The magicians airs in two places right at the beginning, one which censors, and the other that does not.

I'd assume the show is being made for different markets with different censorship levels. A lot of Syfy's shows are Canadian co-productions jointly aired on Space or whatever, and it seems the Canadians bleep less profanity than American networks -- although Syfy seems to have abandoned bleeping altogether now.

Which I guess is okay, since I only just got into this show via Netflix, and it would've been weird to go from hearing the dialogue uncensored on Netflix to hearing it bleeped on Syfy.

I finally got caught up today.
So is Josh a regular now? I saw a new male name in the credits and he does seem like the most likely candidate.
The Great Cock was pretty cool, but then again that is to expected when we're dealing with Faran "Capt. Robau" Tahir.
Loved the coded pop culture conversation, and the fact that they subtitled it was hilarious. The sad thing is, I realy didn't need the subtitles.
Season is definitely off to a very good start.
New episode tonight
Heroes and Morons
Eliot embarks on a quest. Quentin, Kady, and Josh continue their search for magic.

Their code reminded me of Darmok "Shaka, When the Walls Fell". And going to a Bacchus party! Such an entertaining show

Yes, IIRC, the new name listed among the regular cast is the actor who plays Josh. Apparently Josh is one of the core characters in the books, but they created Kady to replace him so there'd be a better gender balance. Now it seems they're giving him a more central role again.

Elaborating on my previous response: Both Brittany Curran (Fen) and Trevor Einhorn (Josh) have been upgraded to regulars this season.

Also, Wikipedia says
Dina Meyer and Felicia Day are going to recur this season. With Jamie Ray Newman showing up last week too, that's a lot of redheads.

Didn't Quentin see Reynard out of the corner of his eye for a second? Or was that just the drugs/drink? I did see the actor's name was in the credits. Eliot is so much more than he was in the first season. His quest is entertaining but the jumping back and forth between Kady and Penny and the others with the quest was jarring.

Finally caught all of the last episode when they reaired it this morning.
It was good, the introduction of the Muntjac was pretty cool, the ass-trench bit was funny. The stuff on the island was pretty good too, even if it was a bit predictable that the priest faked the monster attack. I loved the reaction from the people on the island when he declared it a province of Filory.
The search for Mayakovsky's batteries was good to. That poor kitten. Quentin and co. realizing Kady took the battery because of how hard she hit was pretty good too. Seeing how all of the different people react to not having magic has been pretty interesting. I feel especially bad for the poor Professor her tried to kill herself.

New episode tonight
The Losses of Magic
Alice and Quentin visit her parents as Kady and Julia explore new methods to heal.

I'm surprised our pop-culture-referencing High King and Queen didn't say something about "that lame Deep Space Nine episode with the cloud monster."

Have they made any references to sci-fi stuff like that? I thought it had been mostly fantasy stuff like Harry Potter and Game of Thrones.

They referenced Cyclops from X-Men in their pop-culture code scene the other week. And last week they mentioned the cliche of babies growing up instantly, like Elliot's daughter did. I don't recall which examples they referenced (except Buffy, which Margo ruled out as a valid example), but it's as common a trope in sci-fi as fantasy, so there may have been something there.

I'm a bit disappointed we didn't get the see the Pegasuses.
Loved the Fairy Queen taking out the pirates to save the Muntjac.
The stuff with Alice and Quentin visiting her parents was pretty good. Niffin Alice really was psycho. You do have to have a little bit of sympathy for the Lamprey.
I wonder if Alice's father will actually stay dead?
I have a feeling Kady and Julia dealing with a demon will come back to bite them somehow, those kind of things always seem to come with some kind strings.

Pedantry alert, just for the hell of it: "Pegasus" is actually the name of an individual winged horse, not the species (the name means a well or spring, because Pegasus's hooves could create a spring wherever they touched the ground). The species should properly be called pterippus (which is Greek for, well, winged horse). The plural is apparently pterippi, I guess because it's a Latin form of the Greek word. (In pure Greek it would be pterippos/pterippoi, I think.)

Loved the Fairy Queen taking out the pirates to save the Muntjac.

I loved Margo standing up for the Muntjac's right to say no. The Queen's brutal response to that was rather ghastly, and not at all what Margo wanted. And it wasn't done out of any concern for the Muntjac, but merely to "reward" Margo for standing up and being queenly, and to threaten her with what would happen if she was any less authoritative in carrying out the Fairy Queen's arbitrary commands.

This show is a little preoccupied with magical inanimate objects having sex with each other, though. First books, now boats.

He seemed fairly nice as demons go, but that could be deceptive.

Both Margot and Elliot have begun to change and have empathy for others. They used to be pretty self centered. The fairy queen gave that poor shlub an earworm to supposedly drive him nuts. I thought she was going to rip out his tongue. I am beginning to wonder why the fairies are really there. They are creepy but inconsistent. And Alice is also changed, but probably not for the better. And her mother's a piece of work.
This show has a lot of different stories going on and it jumps around between them so we can see what's going on for them all. That's good, but a little jarring sometimes.
