The 100 - Season 2

What makes you think she's dead?

You realize this is television, yeah?

It's also The 100, a show that, as I said, kills off characters on a regular basis. Not to mention a show that has a continuously disturbing tendency to kill off the majority of its nonwhite cast members.

They way things were going, it might've resolved the Grounder/Ark conflict too soon. They need to keep it going, so she had to die.

^Actually a change in the status quo with the Grounders is just what the show needs. We've already had a whole season of the Grounders fighting the invaders from space. There's little point in continuing that dynamic unchanged, especially now that there's a new enemy in the Mt. Weather people. It'd be more interesting to show the Grounders and Ark survivors grudgingly starting to work together and negotiating that prickly and mistrustful relationship.

Well, I'm done. I wasn't sure I wanted to watch at all this week, but I gave it a try, and I just found myself uninterested in what was going on. Almost every character is pretty much responding to every situation in the worst possible way, whatever creates the most gratuitous melodrama or conflict or suffering, and I'm just not interested in that. The moment I decided to turn off the TV was when Abby slapped Raven for helping the others go after Finn, in the wake of her selfish and irrational decision to forbid a search party in the first place. If even Abby, who was the voice of reason and the conscience of the Ark in the first season, has suddenly become Captain Bligh, then there's nothing here for me. Sure, yeah, she's trying to protect her daughter yada yada, but the way it's executed is so one-note and devoid of nuance and unpleasant. I'm just bored with it all.

When Murphy is the voice of reason, you know you've gone over the edge.

I have to wonder why Finn is so obsessed with Clarke now and not Raven.

I thought that was pretty well established in season 1 -- Finn got involved with Clarke when he thought he'd never see Raven again, and his feelings for her remained once Raven came down.

And what about his feelings for Raven? They were really together and knew each other longer than him and Clarke. His thing with Clarke was really just a brief fling all things considered. Clarke made it clear she didn't want to be with him.

I actually loved tonight's episode. I like they are taking the characters in darker directions, and things seem to be moving at a great pace (at least for me). Though I admit Jasper's decisions do have me a little confused and don't feel as organic as the others. But I'm still going to keep watching the show as I find it very compelling.

Well, yeah, but that doesn't mean his feelings for her have gone away. I got the impression last season that his continuing feelings for Clarke were an ongoing source of tension between him and Raven.

Even aside from that, he knows Raven's safe and fears that Clarke is in danger. So naturally he'd be more worried about Clarke. You don't have to be sleeping with someone to care about them.

I had the exact same thought. I'm curious to see where they are going with Murphy. They seem to be trying to redeem the character this season.

It'll interesting to see how bad things get after Finn's attack on the Grounders.
I was not expecting Jaha to be with the Grounders.
I wonder if we are going to get to see The City of Lights the people who found Jaha kept talking about last week. That seems like a possible set for something in the future.
I was also sad to see them kill of Anya, I was starting to like her, and I'm a big fan of Dichen Lachman.
I'm curious what exactly they are doing with Lincoln, it appears they are trying to use some kind of conditioning.

Did it seem that when "Mt Weather" was mentioned, Clarke's mom was familiar with the name?

Well, yes. That was mentioned in the pilot -- the Mt. Weather base was the original target destination of the drop ship, since the Ark leaders believed it would have shelter and supplies for the 100 (although they had no idea it was already inhabited). The drop ship malfunctioned and went off course, so they didn't reach Mt. Weather. The characters spent the first couple of episodes trying to get to Mt. Weather, but they couldn't get through Grounder territory to reach it. So it sort of fell by the wayside until they ended up there in the season finale.

Mt Weather was the Skypeople's target when they put the kids down in he pilot.

They thought Mount Weather would be full of canned food the kids could eat.

The 100 where very miffed that they missed the mountain and this is why things were so difficult in season one.

They did not have immediate access to Mt Weathers resources.

Mt Weather might have even pushed their drop ship off target in the pilot like they did when Ellen Tigh tried to claim the Earth,

Nice to have the show back tonight. I liked that Jasper finally realized the gravity of what was going on. And it was nice to see Octavia encounter Lincoln this early. The ending was great, I didn't expect Jaha to be reunited with the main group so soon.

Jaha better have some plague.

Those are established tactics.

Stick him in a tent outside the compound for a week before they all get sick again.

:bolian:

Yeah, I was surprised to see Jaha back so soon. But I'm not disapointed.
I wonder if all of the Reapers were created by the Mountain Men?

I just found out that the second novel is out on Amazon, with the third coming shortly.

I read the first one, and since it's not the same as the TV series, I might try the second.
