Unless it's onscreen and painfully obvious I just take what the producers say with a grain of salt. I mean, Simon Pegg once said that the Kelvin Timeline changes ran in both directions and altered both the past as well as the future but in canon the changes to the timeline only occur once the Narada goes back to 2233 and events from that moment forward are altered. Unless an episode of SNW openly connects the two Kyles as being the exact same person (the way the series did Robert April with his animated TAS version) then I'm cool with thinking he's another junior officer named Kyle who served nearly a decade before John Winston's.

He could be the transporter officer from the Cage. Before he transferred from the United Earth Space Probe Agency.

Nero: All that red matter Ambassador Spock left hanging around took me through two black holes actually before I ended up meeting the Kelvin. First ended up in late 20th century Earth where I took out some guy called Khan. Just before I got sucked into the next black hole to meet the Kelvin, I heard some scientist (Adam Song? Singh? Whatever) shout "It'll take 30 years, but I'll just make another Khan!"

Honestly Kirk looked younger in GEN than he did in TUC. The makeup department didn't add grey to his temples and he felt more vigorous in the 1994 movie than he did in the 1991 film, and he actually carried the earlier movie.

I don't see any reason to assume it's the same Kyle.

I don’t really see any reason NOT to.

I mean, I consider it entirely possible that, during his absence from the ship, Kyle got his officer’s commission and married a nice English girl, eventually even adopting her accent.

Or perhaps Kyle simply has two native accents and uses whichever one he feels like. You know, like John Barrowman.

I thought the cliffhanger worked well. I don't know what people felt with the BOTB cause I binged it after watching SFDebris' review. So the impact was lost on me. Plus I don't really like TNG's crew.

This episode worked for me. I last felt this way with Person of Interest, S4.
