this has literally never happened. what a silly take.
Something like this happened in ST09 and in the first season of Discovery to name two. I think we've also had a bit of it in Picard. Maybe I notice it more because it's a trope that annoys the hell out of me. Another tangental example is La'an pausing to chat to an injured man instead of immediately calling Sick Bay to send assistance as soon as she realised he was injured. The characters often appear oblivious to the urgency of a situation.

Does that imply that there was actually an armed conflict between Earth and Vulcan? It's still one of the most "What the hell are you talking about?!?" lines in Star Trek. Crazier than anything Janice Lester even thought about.
Yes. Yes it does. I encountered the line early on. So it only becomes "WTH" when it's retconned by later lines. Early season one weirdness. ;)

Just like that time on TNG when everyone took a casual stroll to an emergency.

This is nothing new to Star Trek. I mean, hell we could also go as far back as TWOK where Scotty carried his dying nephew to the bridge instead of going straight to sickbay.

Oh God, the brisk walking on TNG during emergency situations drove me NUTS. When Kirk was headed to engineering when the ship was minutes away from blowing up, the dude fucking RAN. The TNG crew did the brisk walking thing constantly.
It's not even all that brisk in the above video. It's literally like they're taking a quiet stroll through the park on a Sunday afternoon.

You'd think the Chief Medical Officer and the head of Security would have a little more pep in their step.

Though I generally don't mind that Trek was traditionally on the slower-paced side ... yeah, that was kind of riduculous.

Along with the TNG bridge scenes that were like "Captain, they are firing on us." "Well, Mr. Worf, perhaps we should let this situation play out and see what happens. Earl Grey, anyone?"

Can anyone identify Pella's antique watch? It can't be extremely old if there is Tritium on the dial.

Decades, not centuries. I actually have some tritium sights that are probably about 30 years old. Which means they've lost over 80% of their luminosity to radioactive decay.

Just like that time on TNG when everyone took a casual stroll to an emergency.

And sometimes synchronized their steps, like Barclay and Geordi in "Hollow Pursuits".

If I ever got the chance to write for Lower Decks, I'd LOVE to make a joke about that.

"Lower Decks" needs to do that gag.

It happened a couple of times and even in the ENT Era Archer was beamed directly into the NX-01 Sickbay on more than one occasion. I guess to take up screentime and build tension? Because even in the prequel series set 100-200 years earlier and in TOS itself people seemed to make it to Sickbay a lot faster. :p
