I wasn't a big fan of this episode. The Klingon stuff seemed a bit strained, it wasn't that entertaining in and of itself and it didn't fit Klingon mythology quite well enough for the nostalgia factor. The B plot was okay but nothing special.

Klingon for the Galactic Traveler had more details about how food and drinks are made, but I forgot. Gagh is kept barely alive with thinned blood that they don't like at all, and then given some toxic herb that they love and devour just before they're served. Other dishes involve letting an animal digest something and then cutting that out of its stomach. And they have a Klingon version of grated cheese, made by scraping the feet of an animal :D

I’m not having much time to comment or follow the forum in general as of late but I’m really enjoying this season.

What had me scratching my head in this episode was the reference to Kahless defeating Fek'lhr. I guess that suggests Fek'lhr actually was somebody real at some point? Or is it meant to be the Klingon version of the story of Jesus and the Devil which is the basis of Lent?

2382. The current stardates are in the 59000-range.
Lower decks is not going by that formula for years. The Year starts in the 400 range, so we’re very close to 2382

There was no stardate given in this episode, but the previous one was 59393.7

Much as the elaboration of the klowakans is appreciated? Literally knocking points off the episode for that entire plot line as it could've been drastically shortened and still work.

Love the return of Ma'ah. He is an honorable soul that has, since his disposession of his command, gone to find himself again. While I understand not wanting to serve under that one ...P'tah's navy, that guy is dead now (I do note the lack of death scream. Combined with the coward's tactic of a feigned surrender. Yea dude's going straight to Grethor. If not getting shoved overboard on the ferry.) So why not resume command?

Eh. He loves his brother. The wine must flow and while logistics is hardly a glorious aspect, it is no less vital than anything else. Plus as earth history has shown, those in logistics and supply have their own stories of bravery and courage.

Give points to Boim for quick thinking on how to pass the red line safely. Also, it is likely they knew of Ma'ah's disposessed status before showing up which is why he got on a klingon regulations kick. Mariner not telling Boims everything, but boims knowing helping this guy is important to her would throw himself bodily into research.

He's a lovable nerd.

I think the lack of a death scream is precisely because he acted dishonorably by being a coward and trying to attack Ma'ah from behind after surrendering.
Were I in Ma'ah's shoes, I'd request either the man's head as a trophy or, barring having a cool skull for the wall?

His drinking horn.

The pain stick scene stuck out the most, and their use of voltage and using all 4 characters to pass the test was brilliant. Certainly better than most times TNG brings up current-related things.

Rated 7 because some of it just didn't click for me as much as I'd hoped, though the difference in opening/format threw me off. It's still relevant to the story, though!

This is a wonderful episode - I liked the Klingon storyline much better than Doctor Migleemo's, but I appreciated that we learned about him and his culture.
One of my favourite bits was when Boimler jumped on the giant targ and squealed "Yeeeeee!" :adore::guffaw:
