It was more of a Paradise Syndrome remake. Nice planetary environment I guess, but literally nothing interesting or new or surprising in it. Why is this one so special that they had a separate screening event? Lowest point in the season so far

I enjoyed it, and it structurally felt very TNG in a way I liked a lot.

That being said… I don’t see why this was an episode they decided to give a big red carpet affair, or why TRR is gonna have Alex Kurtzman on. This really wasn’t a special sort of episode, more like a good meat-and-potatoes Star Trek story.

Maybe it's the music, but the race struck me as a particularly sadistic challenge on Survivor.

I do like the new tricorders. Everyone's La Forge now, eh?

In some ways this is my favorite episode of the season thus far. Very reminiscent of some of the better Roddenberry and Berman era stories where our Starfleet heroes have to blend in with a pre-warp humanoid society in order to solve a dilemma and complete an important mission.

This may well be one of my favorite Burnham episodes of the entire series.
