Scrubs

I thought the first episode was very, "Meh." The second episode was fantastic, definitely one of the best of the series! I also enjoyed how only three main characters appeared (with Carla only having a little cameo), it made it feel a lot easier knowing that they could pull the show off without everyone since everyone will be sitting out three episodes this season.

I do have to say, even though this was bringing back what makes Scrubs great, I REALLY hope this is the last season. Especially with Bill Lawrence, Zach Braff and Judy Reyes moving on, its time is up. If it does get a ninth season, I can't promise I'm going to watch. The eps without Braff will really make me decide on that.

Was it just me or did the lighting at Sacred Heart seem a lot darker?

Yeah, it was way darker. Last season they claimed that were going to make the hospital darker like it was in the first three seasons, but they never did. This year it seems like they are.

I loved the new episodes, but I don't like them putting jokes over the end credits. It just feels weird, even if I found the joke about stuffing Carla and putting her in the closet hilarious.

Only the second episode seemed darker to me. That was practically bordering on Star Trek Generations levels of lighting (or darkness, as the case may be). It was a bit weird considering how harshly lit all hospitals are.

I loved the end of the first episode, myself. I don't see any problem with it, as the end bits seem completely extra (and improvised, in the case of the Carla in a closet thing) and don't affect anyone's enjoyment of the actual episode in any way.

I watch the repeats of Scrubs from time-to-time, but missed the later seasons on NBC. I like the show enough to have given it a chance on ABC. The first episode didn't have the same energy as the early episodes and I was about to write it off, but the second episode with George reeled me back in.

It's good to have Scrubs back. The first ep was pretty good and the second one was just great.

It doesn't detract from the enjoyment, I'm just used to finishing an episode of Scrubs while watching some of the weirder images from that episode with the Scrubs music in the background. I'll get used to the new format, but I'm guess I'm just stuck in my old ways.

I think the new credit format is ABC mandated. They have all of their sitcoms end with a scene over the credits.

Scrubs has been hilarious so far this season. If the next two episodes are this good I'm going to be in a for a great last season!

If Judy Reyes is leaving, does that by default mean this would be Donald Faison last season as well? Turk and Carla kind of need each other to exist character-wise. Unless they divorce them or write off Judy in a go upstairs and never come down sort of way, I'm not sure what will happen with Turk.

Like most, I thought the first was okay but the second episode with George was amazing. Captured the spirit of the first few seasons (nicely timed considering the coda on the first episode) and ranks up there with some of their top episodes.

I actually enjoyed it quite a bit.

I found both of these new episodes to be pretty good, they're both an improvment over the last few seasons. Hopefully they keep up the quality.

I think if Braff and Reyes leave that Chalke and McGinley and nearly everybody else goes as well. They would all be able to find other jobs easily instead of ruining their career with a Jr. Scrubs show.

Chalke might go, I'm not sure about McGinley. He did a commentary once where he was talking about how all the younger actors constantly discuss what their plans are once they leave Scrubs, but the older actors are content to stay working on the show for a long time because they know how hard it is to get a gig that keeps on going year after year.

It really doesn't matter if they go, because if the show keeps going after Braff has gone then it has completely jumped the shark anyway.

I agree. It's a little weird, though, that the second episode is getting such nigh-universal praise, considering how many cast members weren't even in it!

About that coda on the first episode: did it seem to anybody else that it might have worked better in the pre-credits sequence than at the end of the episode? Would have been a nice transition into the show's being on a new network, and a good set-up for the final season of the show as well.

Oh, and who was the actress who played the administrative assistant JD fantasizes about in the second episode? I couldn't find her in the credits anywhere...

And speaking of that episode, it's one of the few episodes of Scrubs where there's no "B" story.
