Scrubs

The "future home movies" part hit all the right notes: JD and Elliot finally got it right and stayed together without screwing it up, and then married and had a family. Turk and JD managed to stay close despite the difference. Dr Cox even grudgingly admits that he likes them, and their family is part of it as well. Even the part where it looked like Izzy and Sammy were getting engaged, making it all one big happy family. just a nice, touching finale. :)

Don't tell anybody, but I teared up. What a great finale. I'm gonna miss the show, but it's time to move on!

I honestly thought that Sammy and Izzy getting engaged was hilarious and I can imagine Turk and JD getting really jealous and trying to out-do them.

Perfect :)

My favourite sitcom of all time, whatever comes next doesn't matter because Scrubs as we know it is over. A wonderul 8 years

I liked how the JD/Turk relationship wasn't the main thrust of the episode - after all, they'll never not be friends. The bittersweet stuff was all about the people he'll leave behind. Cool.

I loved the little future thing and it was cool seeing JD and Turk freak-out in happy mode when I'm assuming it was their children got engaged to each other ;)

Brilliant episode. Really nicely done. Tears in my eyes and everything. I did (yet another) Scrubs 1-7 marathon before season 8 aired so it's been a superb ride from start to finish.

I watched My Chief Concern earlier this evening before watching the finale and I thought that was the funniest episode of the season, so when it comes to humour the finale paled in comparison. But in terms of emotion I think the episode hit the right notes, and the last 10 minutes was the perfect way to end Scrubs. Very touching, and the scene where Turk and JD react to their kids engagement was hilarious.

I'll miss Scrubs very much, it was probably my favourite sitcom. It had its low points, there's no denying that, but this season was very good overall and the show went out on a high. Thank you Bill Lawrence for a great show. :techman:

Concerning the low points: Just out of curiosity, which seasons (or episodes, if there are ones that particularly stand out) are generally considered to be weaker and why?

I would consider the 6th season a low point with the surrounding seasons (5 and 7) slightly better in quality. I would personally say it's because the series started to become too sitcom-y and almost self-parody. Scrubs, IMO, is at its best when it is examining the realities of being out of medical school combined with irreverence. It just lost that focus the year after J.D. became chief resident as it wasn't quite sure what to do with the characters. This season has been great, IMO, because it regained its focus.

I've always been entertained by the show, every season. If anything I find the recent years more enjoyable that the first year or two. Though this final year, with the reduced episode count for the main cast members and the focus on bit new characters, wasn't quite as good. The first year was a little awkward and a little more serious than funny as I recalled, what with all the 'stress of being an intern' stuff. I much prefer it when Scrubs just lives in cartoon-land.

I can only speak for myself and my opinion probably doesn't fit with the majority's, but I've never been a fan of season 5.

I think the show was in its prime in season 1-3, they had a good balance of comedy and drama and the show seemed to have a sense of purpose. Season 3 is my favourite because there's a great arc involving JD/Elliot while the whole thing builds up to Turk and Carla's wedding, and it had some of the best guest characters such as Dr Casey, Danni and Sean. Actually, I never noticed how much I missed Sean until he showed up at the end, I think he was the perfect straight-man to JD's buffoonery.

Season 4 started out well ("Tuuuuuuuurk!!!" "JD!!!!" :guffaw:) but it felt directionless and floundered towards the end. Season 5 never worked well for me because I felt the balance went far too much toward zany humour. There's some great episodes such as My Jiggly Ball and My Lunch, but my biggest problem was that JD became a background character for most of the year, and as the leading man he really needed an arc.

That's why I'm one of the few who loves season 6, JD was put at the centre of the show again, and there was a similar feeling as the third season in that they were building towards something. I think the final third of the season was gold. I thought season 7 was okay when I first saw it, but I rewatched it on DVD when it came out and it isn't as good as I remembered. The fact that the season was cut short due to the writers trike didn't help, and the second half of the season was bad because Bill Lawrence wasn't on set guiding things as he usually was.

The final season was good, the best since season 3. There was a few duds along the way, but there was an overall arc and some classic episodes, and the finale was a good send-off.

Best episode: My Screw Up
Worst episode: Anything involving Mrs Wilk (season 5). Gods, I hated her.

Sorry, I didn't mean this to be so long, this tends to happen when I talk about Scrubs. ;)

That was a fantastic finale.

Unlike other shows in which the finale absolutely fails to capture the essence of the show, Scrubs did it with style. J.D.'s last daydream was great even if it was all in his head.

I'd tune in to a Scrubs: TNG out of morbid curiosity, but I don't think I'd stick with it unless they significantly altered the formula--this cast was gold and no one will be able to fill their shoes.

If it does come back I'd definitely give it a go. It would be interesting to see it with ZD.
