Recommend three episodes for a NuTrek skeptic

Honestly, the first four or five episodes of Season 2 are consistently good, and should give you a good idea about the show.

IMHO, start with the premiere of season 1 - it had some good ideas in with the references and usual tropes, which were done rather well. If the show clicks with the viewer, there's something to be said about the experience. The anticipation of upcoming episodes, and LD rarely dropped the ball to anything approaching an off-putting point. Then again, that method did not work so hot for me with "Voyager"...

...YMMV, but I started with the premiere for LD season 1 and no less unsure as to how it would go. I instantly fell in love, with the season getting even better. Season 2 pretty much improved on what was a great start and 2 is my favorite for now. Looking forward to 3, though I saw its premiere and it was still solid... Now imagine a revisit to older seasons and the season rankings start to shift back and forth, like balls in a Fisher Price 'lawnmower' toddler toy...

As a person who generally isn't fond of references and "Easter eggs" in shows*, most of LD handles them well. A few are gratuitous. A few I've not picked up on. Many hit the right spot with the right notes.

All that said, the Doopler episode still comes to mind as one that constantly had me laughing and there was something of a good message or two in it as I recall... most episodes were solid all around. But it's comedy; it's ultimately subjective.

* remember that movie "Tron" from 1982? Look for the reference to Pac-Man and feel all cringey as a result. If nothing else, the 21st century didn't start the fad of using references to tickle audiences with...
