Peter Weller

One of Two

Ensign
Newbie
Peter Weller. While Trek marathoning today (home sick), I wrapped up Enterprise (again), and then started the reboots. I had a "wait, where'd I see that guy" moment in Star Trek Into Darkness. Admiral Marcus (Peter Weller)... I JUST saw him as Paxton in Terra Prime in ENT. Old news to most, I'm sure, but I do like playing the "where'd I see that guy" game...

All the plastic masks and makeup makes the guessing game a little bit harder... Peter was easier, he portrays a good "bad guy."

Ha! Sorry for the scare...

Haha! I play that game too. And I'm not so good. Seriously, what about Vaughn Armstrong playing multiple characters in Enterprise? I missed at least one of them! (The Klingon captain I believe )

Multiple roles on Enterprise? Hell, the guy holds the record for most live-action roles in Star Trek in general, eleven.
yep. I was able to pick him out in his role on VOY, probably because he wasn't hidden so much.

I wonder who spent more time in prosthetics..Armstrong or Coombs?

Coombs might have him beat on that one, but only because of Weyoun. I say might, because Armstrong might have been doing uncredited "nameless alien of the week" long before that.

Also, Peter Weller is fantastic. Absolutely, he is Admiral Marcus' maternal grandfather or something.

Easily Jeffrey Combs with 8 appearances as Brunt, 24 as Weyoun, 10 as Shran, plus the various one-off characters, that guy infatuated with Kira who wanted a hologram of her, the alien wrestling manager on Voyager, and the Ferengi in Acquisition. In fact, Far Beyond the Stars was the only role Combs did on Star Trek without any prosthetics. Meanwhile, almost all of Vaughn Armstrong's alien characters were one-offs, with the exception of the Kreetassin appearing twice. Admiral Forrest, his one character without prosthetics is the only time he played a recurring character.

Thanks for the info! I was never able to get through DS9, so I wasn't sure how big a character Weyoun was.

I find it rather likely that Admiral Marcus is a descendant of John Frederick Paxton.

I can see that. Villains have the best lines.

Paxton:
"Behind this? I'm in front of this--I lead this!"
A competent Trump

Marcus
"You better stop and think about what you're doing, Kirk. You better think about what you did on Qo'noS. You made an incursion onto an enemy planet! You killed a Klingon patrol. Even if you got away without a trace, war is coming. And who's gonna lead us?! YOU?!."

I would have followed Shatner's Kirk over Morrow/Cartwright any day of the week...but...
So help me, If I had a choice to follow:

A.) Marcus

B.) Chris Pine's Ryan Lochte-esque Kirk ?

I just might have followed Marcus...

Him and Tywin Lannister.

Some years ago, we were watching a History Channel documentary about the engineering feats in ancient Rome. One historian after another popped up to voice an opinion, but then I noted "Peter Weller, Syracuse University." He did look familiar, and some checking revealed that, yes, it was the guy who used to play Robocop. He really is a professor of history at Syracuse.

^^ I have loved Weller since Robocop, but I never knew he was an art historian! I found out that Weller has a Ph.D. in Italian Renaissance art history. Awesome! I shall call him Dr. Weller from now on. :)
