Kanar...

Does anyone know when they changed Kanar from a pale green drink into the more familiar dark brown syrup type drink. In the first few times I did see Kanar it looked like the drink that Ambassador Vreenak was drinking in the episode "In the pale Moonlight" Later it looked more like Kahula, but it probably tasted more like fish juice extract...

Kanar was syrupy at least by the time Damar became Legate over Cardassia. Casey Biggs said he would get sugar highs from drinking syrup take after take.

I always had the personal theory that there was more than one type of kanar, just like how we have red wine and white whine. There may even be drinks more disparate than that, that non-Cardassians lump under the name "kanar," not knowing any better.

I thought I remember him saying once he could stop dry-heaving because it tasted so awful.

^ I think so too- remember when Quark went to give him some, and Damar said not that one- he wanted a more expensive kind? The stuff was soo thick! Even in the Maquis eps from season two. Looked gross... and it was, and when they changed what they made Biggs drink- cuz he was having a hard time with it- the new stuff tasted worse!!

When it first featured in TNG it was completely different too - pronounced Kaynar unless that was a different drink.

Either my monitor is off, or I'm color-blind...but I thought it was BLUE a lot like Romulan ale. Even Memory Alpha described it as blue, though. Which kanar was green?

my thoughts exactly, only i associated it with soft drinks. like Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Lemon Pepsi, Crystal Pepsi...
