In a Mirror Darkly

I liked them and I'm planning to read the book that encompasses all the mirror universes in Glass Empires. But they really didn't have two episodes they could have for the mirror universe. But whats done is done.

Many people seem to have a problem with these mirror characters not being the show's regular characters. If you see them as their dark side, the embodiment of their darkest fantasies, the darker reaches of their repressed selves, you can include it a little better in the series.
Although that implies the double episode being written in that perspective.
Does the episode really address the regular characters' issues? I am not familiar enough with it and them to say.

Nobody alluded to this, so I'll say it: Enterprise's type of mirror episode, the portrayal of the mirror characters, is IMO inspired from Voyager's equivalent of a mirror episode, Living Witness (with the incorrect and evil-oriented portrayal of the Voyager crew in an alien holographic reconstitution). And that episode is also completely out of sequence. (It's placed in the future.)

The decision to not show both crews as the original did was a fatal flaw IMO and showed why Coto didn't totally get it. Fans old and new were invested in the crew and we needed a glimpse of "our" guys! But I enjoyed the gimmick which was what this ep was.

I couldn't disagree more. being a big fan of TOS (I think TOS is still #1 but ENT is definitely #2 in my book, and it ended too early); I LOVED what they did with the entire 4th season. I had a few friends at the time who weren't into Star Trek but caught those episodes and thought it was a fun take on the 'Evil Twin' angle that many shows still do today. Also, I really do think Coto 'got' Star Trek BETTER than anyone since TOS. Yes, there were a couple of 'misses'; but hell, look at the majority of the third season of TOS. ;)

IMO, Manny Coto did re-invigorate ENT in a good way, and had the political climate at Paramount and UPN not shifted, and ENT got at least a 5th season; I think it would have ranked even higher on most people's list; post mortem.
