I Tried Again and Still Didn't Like It

I think the comparison is quite lazy. They are both animated sci-fi comedies, they share a certain aesthetic but beyond that… when you get into what the two shows are actually about there’s not much similarity.

Oh, I agree with you. My point was more that the writing, characters and humor in Futurama is quite witty, while the writing, characters and humor in LDS is quite juvenile.

I mean, tastes vary of course, but Futurama is more than capable of being juvenile (I love it by the way) and LDS is equally capable of being witty…

As a long standing Futurama fan who’s enjoyed the new episodes… I have found the new episodes of LDS so far to be much funnier.

Good choices there. I got suckered into GoT (though most of the show is really good), was perfectly happy with LOST, but gave up on Heroes partly due to time changes IIRC but partly because yeah, it went off the rails for me. Not familiar with the others.

I think Heroes was regaining its footing and heading in some interesting directions when it was cancelled. I think it is one of the rare shows that was going to arc upwards after it bottomed out. That was partially due to the writers strike anyways. I wrote Season 5 in my head soon after season 4 ended, so I have some amazing head canon lmfao.

Whew. Thx.

I just happened upon on an ep on Pluto TV & was thinking I wouldn’t want a young child of mine to see it.

I guess it was just Prodigy that was aimed at children.
Yes, Prodigy fits that bill.

LD is a sitcom based in Trek's universe but exists as an elevated stylized telling of the story, rather than pure drama. Closer to early MASH, or Brooklyn 99, I would say or such shows, than a full parody but it gets close.

I don’t think LDS is any more or less unsuitable for children than something like The Simpsons or Futurama TBH. As with those shows, most of the more colourful humour will go straight over the kids heads.

Actually that’s kind of the MO for how these shows work and gain wide appeal.

I think kids tend to be more perceptive than adults give them credit for, even if the kids themselves don't necessarily fully perceive what they're perceiving.

Both shows regularly brought me to a point where I asked myself if I wanted to keep watching them. It's a weird thing for Star Trek fans, isn't it?

A group of friends walked away from Star Trek fandom in anger after "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home", calling it "the dumbing down of 'Star Trek' for the masses". They were actually offended that the movie was popular with the general public, received praise from professional critics, and that the ranks of our local club jumped from 400 to 1000 members in very short time.

I remember similar complaints with Trek fan friends at 09.

Which is more than a little frustrating that apparently Trek is supposed to be an exclusive club.

Nope. One episode or two maybe.

I don't give seasons.
I don’t understand this point of view. What if the fist episode you choose to watch just happens to be the worst episode of the series, and any other episode you could have potentially enjoyed

This is what happened to me when I tried to get a friend into Buffy the Vampire Slayer when it was still airing.
