How Disney/Lucasfilm could bring Indiana Jones back

Rogue One is a remake of Star Wars, except upside down and backwards, with the hero wanting to escape war and go live with her family, her Obi-Wan Kenobi needing a Darth Vader suit, her Darth Vader being a good guy, her Han Solo being too committed to the Rebel cause, and so on.

At what point do you stop counting something as a X-make?

Three Amigos, Galaxy Quest, A Bug's Life...?
Case-by-case basis in direct relation to the quality of the original source material and its imitations.

Or Jonesing it......making it up as it goes.;)

When you change that much, is it a remake? Clearly they’re based on Seven Samurai from a plot standpoint.

And that was my intended follow-up to Santa Kang. I like subtle homages, which leaves most of the Abramsverses out. I enjoy noticing SIN CITY emulate the plot structure of PULP FICTION......or STAR TREK VI taking inspirartion from THE PACKAGE (accidentally or otherwise).

I also maintain that the first DARKMAN was influenced by the first ROBOCOP film, which had a few structure-similarities to 1978's SUPERMAN. Both Kal-El and Murphy had very successful first nights after all.

Homage works.

I've been really shocked that Marvel hasn't released any Indy comics since Disney bought Lucasfilm, it seems like the perfect franchise for comic books. I know I've seen some online that came out a while back, were they such huge flops that everybody else is scared to do more?

I love the original 3 films, and it really could have ended with Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Reunited with Marion, finds out Mutt is his son, ends with Indy and Marion's wedding. I haven't gotten around to the 5th film, Dial of Destiny. Lots of bad reviews on that one. Why do we need a reboot that sandwiches Indy Jones & Lara Croft into some weird hybrid? If you're going to make this many changes, just call it something else.
Unlike everybody else, I had no problem with Dial Of Destiny, and thought that it was a good end to the series, without Indy using said MacGuffin to change time and also bring Mutt back, or whatever Indiana was going to do with it. I also think that DoD was made because of the expectations of fans to see a new Indiana Jones movie, so I don't think that it's Lucasfilm's or Paramount's fault completely (I also think that certain neocon MAGA sci-fi/fantasy YT commentators like this guy are to blame for the film's reception.)

All in all, I think that Gaith has a great idea, and it could work if Paramount and Lucasfilm/Disney want to do it.

Just my $0.02.

Jorge Luis Borges works would lend themselves well to fiction.

At least, have Javier Bardem do an audiobook.

He even looks a bit like JLB, who passed away in 1986…a perfect time for Indy to find the Aleph

I really enjoyed that movie. I had a small problem with Indy being knocked out for days--but I haven't thought about that in a while and it was a tiny nitpick.
