Game Music

My favourite game music is the Oakvale track from Fable. Just close your eyes and you'll imagine yourself a little kid in an idyllic, green village without a worry in the world.

Check it out here at amazon, especially track 2.

I like the music from FF7, I'll chime in with others about Mass Effect, the music not only was great, but it really fit the game.

Most of the time though, I'll play my own music and lower or mute video games. Especially right now with Prototype, I need louder metal to kick ass with.

Back in my WoW days, I had a hard time tanking raids if I didn't have my own music blasting as I helped me keep the rhythm of my spell rotation and cooldown timing.

Practically all the music featured in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
But these tracks in particular:
Dracula's Castle
Requiem for the Gods
Lost Painting

Symphony of the Night was such a fantastic game, and the music made it that much better.... total agreement here.

Aside from that, my fave song is, predictably enough, One Winged Angel, from FF7, and my fave gaming soundtracks are Chrono Cross and Ocarina of Time.

Freespace and Freespace 2 had fantastic music. It just set the tone for the game so well.

Monkey Island also has great music.

However, you can't go past Tetris, its fairly iconic and I've seen it bring smiles to faces of people who played the game in the past.

I really, really, really loved (and still do) Bloody Tears from Castlevania II: Simon's Quest

Also, the map screen music from Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and the Hyrule Field nighttime (and daytime) from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess were pretty cool.

Some of my favourites, in no particular order:
- Command and Conquer: Red Alert
- The Sonic Games (16-bit era that is!)
- The Zelda series
- Civ II
- The Mario series (8 and 16 bit era)
- Bubble Bobble

I'm a big fan of video game music (old and new) and listen to game music often. I think that the soundtracks of many modern video games rival the soundtracks of motion pictures.

Has anyone here tried OCremix? They're the ones who did the music for Street Fighter 2 Alpha HD Remix.

Yeah, I definitely recommend Overclocked Remix for anyone who likes video game music. I have a large and growing folder of songs I have downloaded from there. :)

Total Anihilation had some great music and I will always have a spot in my heart for the Herzog Zwie music.

I adore Jeremy Soule's Morrowind and Oblivion compositions. Especially Call of Magic (Morrowind main theme) and Nerevar rising (The reprised version).
