"Drive" Line-by-Line

Hello, Welcome!

We recently finished our "Conspiracy" Line-by-Line in the TNG forum!

After each completed thread, using a Random Number Generator, we choose the person who gets the keys to the car and selects the next episode.

This time around, Random.org selected LeadHead as our winner. LeadHead, whoever that is, chose "Drive" to be our next Line-by-Line adventure!

For any unfamiliar with our "game," you are asked to post only a single line (defined as one character speaking without interruption by another character) per message. You can post as often as you like, but someone else must post a line in between your posts.

Our "rule" is that if the episode has a "To Be Continued..." on the end, it is done in a single thread, but if it's just an arc of related episodes, each episode is a separate thread.

As before, at the conclusion of this thread CoveTom, leandar, Enterprise1981, or I will run the randomizer to determine who will picks the next episode and get it going.

Tom Paris is piloting the new Delta Flyer through a dense asteroid field. The Flyer gets very close to two large asteroids.

Paris: What's the matter, Harry? You look a little pale.

Paris: How can we put the new Delta Flyer through its paces without taking a few risks?

KIM: Another risk like that and we'll have to rebuild her all over again. There's a vessel coming up fast off our starboard beam.

Paris looks out the starboard window and sees the approaching ship.

Paris: Wow. Nice ship.

Irina [OC]: Vectored exhaust ports, accelerated driver coils. Your vessel must be fast.

Irina [OC]: Check your scanners. You'll see a comet on the other side of the asteroid field. I wonder which of our ships could get there first?

Paris: What better way to test the new ship than to see how it stands up to a little competition? We're ready over here. Shall I count to three?
(Irina accelerates away.)

^PARIS: Guess not. She's a lot more maneuverable than we are.

KIM: Not that I'm endorsing this misguided exercise, but maybe we can even the odds. New impulse thrusters.
