Well, I'm afraid I'll have to disappoint you by saying that I don't know why it is. I feel like the fact that it's only a half-hour long is one of the few remaining sitcom elements. Might have even been first proposed as a sitcom, but it definitely hits different. The Wonder Years was also only a half-hour, and I feel Young Sheldon is very similar to it as a dramedy.
I watched Wonder Years as a kid, but I don't remember it. I guess I'm just used to one-hour being drama and half-hour being sitcom.

Given BBT is a sitcom, I just assume the prequel would be too.
Buffy comes across as almost entirely satirical in most places and is constant jokes and one liners. Compare it to Supernatural or the X Files and you will see what I mean.
Vampires, werewolves, witches, monsters, I always took it to be a horror show with camp and comedy mixed it. I only ever saw a few episodes, and they all played out like a horror movie.
I think the last one I watched was Future Imperfect. I stalled at Suddenly Human, had no interest remotely in it. I skipped Reunion for the moment. I'm stalled again in general. I like TNG's earlier seasons a lot, when its still kind of playing with fun sci fi and TOS tropes. It peaks at the Best of Both Worlds, and is downhill from there IMO. I always said I was going to skip from Best of Both Worlds to First Contact, like 3 seasons of TOS and jumping to Wrath of Khan, skipping the first movie. I am trying to actually watch the show proper, but it is a losing battle.
I am bouncing around between different TV shows. On TNG's 4th season, next episode is 4-14 "Clues." From the first 13 episodes, here's a quick review: "The Best of Both Worlds, Part II," "Family," and "Brothers" made for a strong opening trilogy of episodes. The Borg, the aftermath, and a Data-themed episode that's one of my favorites of the series. "Suddenly Human" is OK, but it's one of those quiet ethical type episodes. "Remember Me" has Doctor Crusher front and center, so what's not to like?

"Legacy" is good if you miss Natasha Yar," and "Reunion" is a Worf-centric Klingon episode.

"Future Imperfect" is a mind-bendy Riker-centric episode, and we say goodbye to Wesley in "Final Mission." "The Loss" is Deanna-centric and explores some really realistic drama regarding facing the possibility of a disability becoming permanent. I used to be a cripple (I got better), so this episode resonates with me. "Data's Day" is pretty good if you love Data or you're a fan of the kind of humor that surrounds Data. It's also O'Brien heavy and it introduces Keiko and Spot. "The Wounded" introduced the Cardassians and the Nebula-class starship and O'Briens "I don't like Carddies" backstory. The last one I saw was "Devil's Due" which is a courtroom drama. The actors playing Picard and Data seemed to have a lot of fun with this one.
Season 4: Overall, I found the front half (13 episodes) to be pretty strong.
I can't stand Voyager. Another waste of good potential that doesn't live up to its premise.
What was it? The DQ setting, the ship, the characters, the actors, the writing, the overall production, "it's not TNG?"
