News Discovery renewed, Picard and Strange New Worlds premiere dates

And for 3 weeks, we're gonna get both Disco and PIC the same day :D

And the week of the Picard finale is the same week as the SNW premiere. This is such a great time for Trek!

B-b-b Midnight’s Edge and Doomcock said that Star Trek is dead..

‪‪I’m aware of all the times they’ve “broken the news” Kurtzman’s been fired/all the shows have been cancelled, but I’m not sure, have they got a perfect record of being wrong? Have they ever been right about their “inside info?”

The only times they’re right is when they take their info from legit sources. They do that sometimes to then be able to say “see? Some of what we reported is correct!”. They also sometimes use actual facts as a basis to make the rest of their nonsense sound legit. It’s a common tactic of this bunch, twisting and using the truth in such a way that, should someone call them out, they can always say “but that part of it WAS true”.

Don't you know? Discovery has been canceled, but they keep it secret so they don't scare shareholders away. So, to maintain the facade, every year they produce a bogus new season.
An argument I've heard in person from people who I really thought would know better.

Please tell me you are joking!

Yes, sometimes it happened that a TV show obtained one extra season even if the ratings where not optimal (like for example to have a '100 episode series' for syndication), BUT NOT FOUR! And for an extra expensive TV show like Discovery!

Lower Decks Season 3 is slated for the summer so now I'm wondering what trek they have to fill out the latter half of 2022? Maybe Picard Season 3?

Happy to see Discovery's fifth season confirmed.

In addition to the 10 episodes of Lower Decks in the Summer, we’re slated to get the back half of Prodigy Season 1, which is another 10 episodes.

If LD started the week after SNW ends, without overlap, and Prodigy Season 1 finishes out right after that, it would put them November 24th, almost through the year.

And ‪‪I think Picard S03 would be a good guess at what would come next, since it should be the next season ready.

Confused. So, there are another 10 episodes of Prodigy in post-production? They made two seasons back to back as with Picard?

To my thinking, they wouldn't follow LD with Prodigy because they seem to like to break up the animated Treks with live-action ones between. But of course, I could be wrong and LD and Prodigy do have a very different aesthetic.

Hopefully I can help clear up a little bit of the confusion. Prodigy has 20 episode a season, split into 10 episode arcs. They’ve said in both the announcement of the initial mid-season hiatus after Discovery came back, and the reiterated in today’s announcements, that Prodigy’s S01 episodes 11-20 are to come “later in 2022.”

Here’s the Prodigy segment from the CBS Press release:

ViacomCBS Press Release said:
Season one of STAR TREK: PRODIGY returned on Thursday, Jan. 6 with episode six. The remaining four episodes of season one’s first half will be available to stream weekly on Thursdays, with episode 10 available to stream on Thursday, Feb. 3. The additional 10-episode-long second half of season one will be available on Paramount+ later in 2022.

They premiered Prodigy directly after the end of Lower Decks season 2, and Prodigy’s creators have said it was originally meant to be released in a single 10 episode cycle, and was only split into 5 episodes this time because of COVID-born production delays.

@JoaquinSlowly That's very kind of you and thank you!

So Prodigy has a 20 episode first season. Gosh, that's unprecedented in the streaming Trek world.

I really have to get round to watching it. I have a little two week holiday coming up for Tet (New Year in Vietnam) and I hope I can catch up with it then.

why are they afraid of overlaping?
I know Covidia has made production a bit nutz at times, but when they get the steamroller rolling, if they don't want to overlap, even with the animated fare, then the year is more or less filled up. No room for a S31 or the CW Academy.. huh..

From 93 to 99 or so had Tng and Ds9, or Ds0 and Voyager on at the same time. It can be done.
