I love the show, but it would make Neil deGrasse Tyson's head explode.
The prime galaxy probably isn't that big.

She might have been programmed a lack of curiosity in certain scientific fields so that she did not accidentally figure out that she is a clone from the future from back when she was not supposed to know that she is a clone from the future.

But there was that half hour you spent in the 90s trying to figure out if it was faster for Janeway to head for the other end of the Bajoran Wormhole, rather than in a straight line for the Alpha Quadrant.
If she's more or less equidistant it makes sense for her to head straight for the alpha quadrant. When she left we were allies with the Klingons, so she'd be in friendly, charted space much sooner than if she headed for one very specific point surrounded by she knew not what.
Berman at conventions says that they are equidistant.

Heck, there are a bunch of people who don't even know what a galaxy is. I've seen TV shows and movies and such that seem to use the word interchangeably with "star system." I once bought an art book, the kind of thing that collects a bunch of sci-fi paintings and stitches them into a loose narrative with some framing text, and there was a diary entry from the viewpoint character that said something like, "We're two light-years from Earth now. Only a few more galaxies to go."
Per the Star Charts maps, the Bajoran Wormhole's Gamma Quadrant terminus is only about 10,000 light years closer to Voyager's starting point than the Federation is. 70,000 vs. 60,000 is close enough to equidistant to be a trivial distinction.
Of course, the biggest bad idea Janeway had was to immediately start heading in any direction with a ship that was still badly damaged and unsupported. The first step should've been to find a safe place to settle and make repairs, find some local allies, maybe hunt down other ships taken by the Caretaker and form a convoy. First gain a stable foundation, then take advantage of that stability to begin searching for ways to communicate with Starfleet or find a shortcut back. They could've spent the whole first season on that process, learning about the quadrant and building alliances and preparing for the long trek home, and then maybe ended the season with a final confrontation with the Kazon that precipitated Voyager's departure and the beginning of the journey, with more resources and knowledge and allies (or losing those resources and allies in the climactic battle and being forced to flee on its own, back to square one).
Oh, wait, this is the Legends thread? We should be focusing on how Sara's going to get home. Weird how both this show and Supergirl open with multi-part arcs of their female lead being separated from her team.
The Galaxy shrunk when it was brought back after Crisis. She is following the true science of that universe. In fact in the multi-verse their are some flat earth's making those round earther people complete loons. Some universe's has the moon made out of cheese now meaning Neil Armstrong was the first human from earth to make a grilled cheese sandwich out of moon and bread.
I don’t know, for me the whole everything is wacky 24/7 has started to feel a bit lazy with the characters becoming flat and two-dimensional as the situations don’t really require that they fully engage them.
Would having the music riff The Football Fight from Flash Gordon be going a bit too far?
That scene immediately came to mind last night.
The "nuclear football" thing was a fun, unexpected twist (I'm not a sports fan, but I love puns), but the real highlight here was Mick Rory saving the world through diplomacy. (And theft.)
I like it that they remembered that JFK was physically frail beneath the healthy, virile image he took care to project. No surprise that his back went out.
I only just realized that Sara wasn't in this episode at all, and neither were Constantine and Astra. This is apparently the first LoT episode that Caity Lotz hasn't been in.
I don't think they're two-dimensional at all. As I said, this one had some pretty multilayered exploration of Mick, and of his relationship with Ava. Nate got to exercise his historian side, which we haven't seen much of lately, as well as using his Steel abilities more than usual. As for Zari, it's impressive how effortlessly the 2044 influencer embraced the role of 1962 secretary, without raising the fuss about it that most of the Legends' empowered women would have, since she's used to playing a role to get the reactions she wants. They were all outside their usual comfort zones here.
Not so sure about Behrad. The writers seem to be forgetting that in the rewritten timeline, the Legends have been traveling with Behrad for as long as they traveled with Zari Tomaz in the original timeline. So the bits where he had to explain his character traits like being squeamish around blood, as if it were new information to them, didn't quite fit.

I wonder if this will be treated as a holiday classic that exists within the Arrowverse. Maybe we'll see the Arrowverse characters watching it when next season's Christmas episodes roll around.
