Anyone playing it yet? I preordered it and was waiting for 22:00 GMT to hit in my area tonight for the XBox version and it’s still listed as a not-yet-available preorder item. Restarting the console doesn’t update it. For those who have started playing this (been reading up on it online), it’s highly immersive, but also highly glitchy, being a 1.0 release and there’s already been a day-1 patch released on the PC version. Is it playable to anyone with an XBox? How about PlayStations? Just curious who can get it right now and who cannot.

I'm waiting for a few patches (and possibly upgrades) first.

Theoretically, my system is above the minimums for everything (if played at 1080) but some of the reviews make it seem as though I should really have more speed and GPU capability:(

I was finally able to get into it last night - it was actually 22:00 local time, not GMT as some folks out there originally thought.

I only had one crash. Otherwise, pretty stable. I gotta say, it's an amazing-looking game. The character animations are top-notch, even for last-generation platforms. The interface is well thought out and the rank-ups really hearken back to the days of pencil/paper/dice RPG's, and very streamlined. I find the video/audio/thermal BrainDance tech quite amazing in particular. For a 1.0 release, it's really well done, IMO.

It’s downright unplayable on my base PS4. Awful graphics (screens are blurred, textures don’t load and basically look like MS DOS pics), lags, glitches, crashes - and yup, all of this with the day one patch and all the weird graphics options turned off that the game has automatically switched on and that make everything even worse. And it’s huge, over 100GB. I’ve deleted it from my PS4 by now (not gonna force myself through this, it’s funny for only SO long to laugh at the mess) and am now waiting for them to maybe fix those issues. Or for myself to get my hands on a PS5, which is clearly the console this one seems to have been optimized for, despite it being advertised as a PS4 game.

Yeah it seems to be suffering from poor optimization and bugs. The minimum and recommended specs seem to be at best vague approximations of what you need to run the game in its current state. My computer is getting on in years, but I think it should be able to run it if they improve the optimization. I mean my rig has pulled miracles before, running stuff that is a bit beyond its capabilities.

Huh... Not seeing any of that. I have a last-gen XBox One X (not the newer Series X - really hate these confusing naming conventions Microsoft is using) and it's quite stable. I have an older XBox One (no X) that I'm going to try it on today to see what the operational differences are. That one may have some more significant problems with it.

One of my mates has just got the Cyberpunk edition of the Xbox One X (though second hand, so the game/code has almost certainly been used/taken. On the other hand, he's also on pay as you go mobile wifi, so a hundred gig download might be an issue. Shame, as I'd probably angle for a quick go on his first.

I will eventually play it however my monitor and graphics card need an update, the screen is a bazillion years old and 1680x1050 at max, also it's got a few dings and scrapes and dead pixels, as for the graphics card, it's a GTX 1060 3GB, it was an emergency buy and the only card available, needed it because my GTX 780 had died.. :weep:
Also, I guess that after a few more months it will be cheaper, possible have a GOTY edition and most catastrophic bugs will have been gotten rid off.

I guess getting a new gfx card will take a while, because they're all being scalped by absolute asshats...:klingon:

This kind of thing is why I've found it's wise not to jump into a complex open world RPG on launch. I've never known one that wasn't a buggy mess for at least the first few weeks.

I think 3rd person would of been much better for this game and it does feel a little sluggish. I just upgraded from 8 to 16gb of Ram so that helps though the game does need a few patches for sure. Also I can't map my arrow keys, says failed bindings but nothing else is using them? I hate WASD and the game would feel more smooth with the Mouse & Keyboard over the Controller.

The impression that I'm getting is that this game was developed primarily for PC, and it's mostly porting to console that's buggered them up. Which just seems bizarre, since you'd think fixed hardware configs would be *easier* to optimise for. I've seen footage on console that makes it look like some pre-alpha, released on Steam way too early bullshit, and loads of PC footage that seems more or less solid, with only the odd glitch, as one would expect from a huge open world RPG on launch.

Almost bought it, but then decided to hold off. Sounds like something I won't even attempt to play until I pick up a Series X.

It works fine on an X1X. Even works reasonably well on my older X1. I turned off the “film grain” effect setting on that one to make it look cleaner and it helped. Only crashed on me once while I was driving. My guess is it sometimes has trouble loading portions of the map in time if you move too quickly through NC, causing it to swallow its face. Aside from that, it’s been pretty solid for me (so far).

I've watched videos about it on the Xbox One S (what I own), and it suffers from serious framrate chugging when there's too many things going on or when you're on open parts of the map.

Waiting isn't a huge deal for me, I've got plenty of things to play until next year.

Just coincidentally i did a complete IT upgrade that i planned for a long time ( finally debt free and got a big Christmas bonus), bigass monitor and new keyboard/mouse have arrived already and have ordered a new upper middle class PC where the components are slowly arriving, fingers crossed it will all be here by Christmas. Got an RTX 3070 graphics card and man you could do some real damage if you hit someone over the head with it :D

Anyway - will get CP for sure but so far i hear much about the many bugs (which is to be expected for such a big and complex game) but knowing CD these will all be patched out sooner or later, it just takes time.

Gameplay wise i only read the best including from people who actually play it and not just review sites. I'm not sure when i will get it, i always said i would be a first day player but it was released, i wasn't playing and the world didn't stop. Maybe i'll get once my new rig is up and running or i'll wait a few weeks until the worst bugs have been patched.

Might take a while for them to tackle the issues on PC - they issued an apology towards base PS4 (and XBox) console players like myself and have said they’re committed to make the game work properly AND look better on the older consoles. (This will take until February, apparently. Two big patches will be coming, one in January and one in February.) And yes, the game was designed as a PC game, but it was also heavily marketed towards console players, and since it was supposed to be released last year when next gen consoles weren’t even a thing yet they really have no excuse for it to look the way it does on the base consoles.

I bought it the other day, and it seems somewhat more stable than at launch. I've seen a handful of bugs, with objects disappearing or clipping through people's hands. I had one part of a quest bug out on me, but a quick save/exit/reload fixed it. My main issue is that some textures don't appear to be loading properly for me, even on the highest graphics settings. Certain small objects like soda cans or magazines, and even advertisements on walls are incredibly blurry.

Everything else seems to render ok, but even the textures on the nicer looking stuff doesn't seem that HQ when you get close to them. The art style is nice, but overall the graphics seem dated.

I didn't follow the technical development too much or have played it but maybe it is because they are using a older engine which they're familiar with and just built from there?

Switching to a completely new engine and getting familiar with it takes time, if that were the case the game might not be out Christmas 2021.

I’m having a decent time on my Series X with it...

But it’s not what was promised, not by a long shot just in terms of the game itself.

The world is an incredible spectacle, but once you start to dig under the surface, it’s a little shallow and missing a lot of promised features and immersion pieces they said would be there.

It needs a lot of quality of life fixes, the levelling system, loot system, perk system, wanted system and crafting system need a complete overhaul.

Lots of other stuff but those come to mind, I am enjoying it and I think I had realistic expectations, some people out there thought this was the second coming of Christ or something so. There’s that.
