Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel - First Time Viewer

It only has 14 almost perfect episodes with great potential and a good movie

At the time, my thought on firefly was basically, this was literal Star Trek (The whole Wagon Train to the Stars motif). I loved the characters, but I just really loved the western feel of it. I wonder if my opinion would change. I still actually haven't seen the premiere episode. When Fox ran it, the episode they started with with The Train Job.

Something tells me that is hard to get. $225 for a puppet Angel Vampire? That's quite a bit of disposable income.

I am too. This has been incredibly fun and it's actualy the most active I've been on this board for a long while.

I've been thinking about rewatching Firefly. It's been so long since I've seen it and I can see who was in Buffy/Angel and also in Firefly. Also, during the whole Jasmine arc, I saw Gina Torres and was like, man Zoe was badass in Firefly. I might want to remind myself on how badass she really was.
Don't forget Dollhouse! Jason

That is probably my favorite line in the entire Buffyverse.

Well on screen, there's also three novels, with a fourth coming later this year, 4 comics miniseries, a bunch of one shot comics, an encyclopedia, an RPG, and a travel guide.

And a ton of board, card and dice games.

If it wasn’t for this thread I don’t think I would’ve given Angel a second go. I’m glad I did because it’s been very enjoyable.

I’m also considering giving Dollhouse a second try as well.

Don't you mean two novels with a Third coming later this year?

I just wish once tomalak was done with Angel that there was a whole series of Ripper to watch after that. Stupid networks and contracts and all that legal mumbo-jumbo. :(

Either that or a Faith Slayer series. I loved what Dushku brought to the role and I think having a darker Slayer series would have been great.

Obviously by high point I don't mean happy, but that scene, man, that scene. I've had the song 'Home' stuck in my head ever since. Also, the setup for Acker and Denisof's work for the final episodes - a lot of incredible stuff between those two from that point on.

A Hole in the World

I think I understand why they had Smile Time be the episode before this. Man AHITW was so very sad, but Acker and Denisof were incredible in those final scenes. Watching Fred's slow deterioration felt like a punch in the gut, and then when we see Illyria fully manifest herself was like twisting the knife. I'm not sure what else to say about this episode other than we finally know why Knox took a liking to Fred way back in the premiere.

Also, @grendelsbayne, I hope the scenes you were talking about were Acker and Denisof's scenes. I wasn't entirely sure where the whole "Home" thing comes in though.

I was so very glad that you stopped with Smile Time last night. A Hole in the World isn't an episode that you want to end your evening on.

Shells

Now that was a one two punch of episodes. Illyria is here, wanting to raise an army from her old world but sees that her entire world was dead. Having to realize she has to live in the real world with no army was almost like watching Illyria and Fred co-exist. She started out bad, but by the end you almost felt sympathetic for her. Wesley is full of grief, finding out that Gunn made the trade to keep the knowledge in his head in exchange for allowing the sarcophagus to go through customs and then seeing Illyria at the end. I loved that end scene, "Is there anything in this world but grief". Also, there was a song that played called "A Place Called Home" showing a flashback of Fred leaving her parents for LA and Illyria having to adjust to life in LA. In two episodes the writers have made me really interested in where this Illyria character is going.

I loved the Flash reference too. If I had watched this episode when it originally aired, I wouldn't have gotten it, but since I do watch The Flash, it was kinda cool.

Don't worry. I think we can find him something to watch to keep the thread going. How about all 15 seasons of Supernatural. That should keep him busy for next 30 years or so!:) Jason
