Body of Proof offical discussion and comments :

The procedural stuff is just the format. What matters are the characters. It was my initial lack of interest in the characters that made me give up on this show, and my later discovery of how substantially and quickly the character writing improved that made me start watching regularly again.

^No, I say it like it happened. As I explained earlier in this very thread, I gave up on it after episode 2, then I got curious and watched episode 5 because Christina Hendricks was in it, and I liked that episode and decided to check out episodes 3 and 4 on On Demand. And the show seemed to make a significant leap in the quality of the writing between episodes 2 and 3. So now, as of episode 6, I'm watching with the expectation of being a regular viewer from now on.

So, seems tonight's episode was shown out of order. either that or the daughter has memory issues.

its probably a order thing shows like these ususally don't have a set story arc are sometime out of order. law and order especially.

Law and Order is out of order?!

I think the producers should issue and order ordering the network to re-order the shows in order!

Well, I was wondering before about Megan's mother being played by Joanna Cassidy, who's only 11 years older than Dana Delany. This episode had information that helped clear that up. We saw Megan visiting her father's grave, with 1977 listed as the date of death -- 34 years ago. She says she was "Lacey's age" when it happened. Lacey, her daughter, is apparently supposed to be 12, though the actress is 14. So that means that Megan is supposed to be 46, a full 9 years younger than Delany. And thus Cassidy is old enough to play the character's mother.

And apparently every show needs to have an arc these days, and Megan's is that her father ostensibly committed suicide and she wants to find out why. I bet there's going to turn out to be some deep dark secret or mystery or conspiracy there that can stretch it out over a few seasons.

Loved the origami flower at the end. Beautiful piece of work.

Sadly I think I have finally lost all interest in this show--too bad Dana Delaney didn't end up in a better series. She's a wonderfully engaging actress with a lot of presence but the rest of the show isn't interesting enough to hold my attention.

I actually thought the "mystery" on this show was much better than the previous episodes.

Something is bugging me though. Does anyone get a "FAAAKKKEE" response whenever Dana Delaney puts on her smile? Or is it just me? It just looks so impersonal and wooden.

I'm guessing that's more the character than Dana. I'm watching some ol' China Beach episodes lately, and there wasn't anything wrong with her smile back then. :)

only two episodes left damn. only nine episodes in the first season what the f@#k is that. I don't mind twelve like on tnt or fx but nine really.

Well, having Megan's ex-husband hook up with her boss is kind of soap-opera-ish, but at least we got to see Jeri Ryan in lingerie. And it's nice to see Megan and Lacey bonding over this, Lacey showing loyalty to Megan. They seem to be getting closer.

Somehow, I pegged the sister as the killer within moments of her introduction. Maybe it was just that she was the least obvious suspect, that the script tried so hard to make her sympathetic. Maybe it was that her introduction called attention to her by having her show up separately from the rest of the family and having Peter approach her alone. I didn't figure out that she had an accomplice, though.

However, I was really hoping it would turn out that the bossy brother was the killer. He was a real jerk, always acting like he controlled the universe and could decide what would happen in any situation.

^The brother was red herring-ly too obvious. Did I miss something in the episode? How did they find the love interest? He just seemed to suddenly appear in the interview room.

Also, they need to watch how many times they pull the "what you were doing was killing him, but the person that actually murdered him is over here" trope.

To me, this episode, which was perhaps the best so far, wasn't so much of a whodunit, but rather a whywasitdun. Figuring out the exact motive, i.e. the nature of the con, was more interesting than zeroing in on the obvious suspect.

As to the soap opera angle, they are playing out the sort of personal growth promised for Megan in the pilot. She has had all along the potential to be an actual three-dimensional character, who is more interesting to me than the CSI cardboard cutouts, and the superheroes of Bones and House. Her character's growth is where at least half of the action ought to be.

I okay I rewatched season 1 on hulu and can't wait for season 2 to start this tuesday. begining with "Love thy Neighbor".

I didn't care for the blatant Desperate Housewives allusions in the season premiere. Making the second-season opener of your show, and only its tenth episode overall, an extended riff on your lead actress's immediately previous show? That doesn't seem like a good idea. It makes it seem like the show is too timid to assert its own identity. At the very least it's too soon.
