So how are you liking this season so far? I know it's too soon to tell which contestants you like, but last week the judges picked the Top 24. I was disappointed a couple of auditioners didn't make it (and some who shouldn't have made it)... the way the judges are handpicking their choices, it's all subjective to me. I don't really feel like there's any particular contestant(s) I like at this moment, but as I said, it's too soon to tell.

My favorite is Brooke White. I also really like David Archuletta and Asia'h.

I think it's a talented season and none of them are drama queening showboats so far. Plus playing their own instruments is going to be very interesting.

I wonder if the playing instruments thing though will be carried over to the vote show, it was part of Hollywood, but will it actually be a part of the real show?

Yep, I think Brooke White is very good from what I heard in Hollywood, can't wait to see what she does.

And as I look at her influences and favorite artists on the website, I'm definitely thinking she's in for some good stuff.

Instruments were introduced to Australian Idol a few years ago, and it made a change to the contest. It introduced a lot of people to show who might not have entered, and brought in new viewers too.

The 12 guys were smokin' hot tonight! (Well, most of them were.)

I didn't get to see the first four performances, but here's what I think of the others.

Robbie Carrico - He projects the rock-star image and has decent vocals. My rating: B

David Archuleta - This guy reminds me of someone I know, but I can't picture who it is. Sweet and likeable, he definitely has the charisma and the stage presence. He's still young, so his vocal range can still change. My rating: A

Danny Noriega - I'd rather not comment on his ambiguous sexuality and effeminate looks, but if he's not confused, then the audience might be. Tonight was the first I saw him perform, and it was mediocre. My rating: C-

Luke Menard - OMFG! It's Orlando Bloom's long-lost brother! He has a high-pitched voice, and his performance was decent. My rating: B+

Colton Berry - OMFG! It's Ellen DeGeneres' younger brother! He's got bluesy vocals that are a bit raspy, and he's got this metro/urban style befitting an alternative rock artist. My rating: B

Garrett Hayley - For a young dude who looks a lot like young Leif Garrett, he's certainly got a very laid-back, very subdued personality, quite the opposite of the rock artist image he wants to project. He's still too young and has a boyish pitch, but his performance was all right. My rating: B-

Jason Castro - He's very charismatic and possesses the vocal talent and stage presence. He definitely gets my vote tonight. My rating: A

Michael, the Aussie guy from Atlanta - I honestly don't know what the judges see in him. I'm surprised he even made it to the Top 24. He always sounds like he's struggling with the high notes, and I certainly could've done a much better rendition of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody at the audition (and that's not saying something). My rating: D

^^^ I believe Randy commented that Jason was a bit pitchy and started out weak but did a pretty good performance toward the end. I voted for him and Chuleta last night.

My girlfriend and I only watch the auditions. It is very funny just to watch these stupid people try to sing.

Of the female performers tonight, I have to say I liked at least three or four people.

Asia'h Epperson - She's got good vocal talent (though a little bit hoarse in places) and seems to be confident and comfortable performing on stage. My rating: A

Ramiele Malubay - She exudes the same confidence and charisma as Asia'h, though not as good vocally. My rating: A-

I didn't see the first half of the show, but during the recap, I caught a glimpse of the others, and Kady Malloy and Brooke White caught my attention.

Syesha Mercado may have excellent vocals, but I don't like her personality at all. I think she's a phony, pretending to get sick and have a sore throat during the Hollywood auditions to gain the judges' sympathy, and then singing to the top of her lungs almost flawlessly. What the hell was that all about? She seems overconfident.

The fat guy was the worst! I liked this guy, he seemed nice, and had some singing. The fat guy was TERRIBLE!

David Archuletta. My predicted winner.
Yes, he´s young, but he has it all. Looks, charm, and talent.
He might have to get his "Gee, Gosh, who me?" thing under control though, but when he is performing he is a natural pro.

It's probably going to be a guy this year...all those blond girls look alike and have no chance to win. I like David a lot, but he is young, and Jordin Sparks hasn't done too much since her win, right?

Honestly, I've gotten quite tired of AI. That Ryan Seacrest makes me angry. Anyway, I like Carly and Brooke so far. They both show so much potential. The guys were all good too..I like Micheal..he's hot!
