American Idol

I think most of them performed well last night, but the three most likely to be in the bottom three are Ramiele, Brook, and Kristy Lee.

What really sucks is that Ramiele is a good singer but (as Simon has said many times) it comes down to terrible song choice. She just seemed to always pick the worst songs. Of course, at this point it's winding down so someone good is going to be going every week.

I was right about the Bottom Three. :) I thought their performances were subpar compared to the others. Ramiele, like Kristy Lee, has a good voice, yes, but what she lacks are two things: charisma, stage presence, and originality, the ability to really sing a song and make it her own. To me, there's nothing really special about Kristy Lee's or Ramiele's songs; the two women have always played it safe ... It's hard to imagine Carly, Syesha, and Brook sharing the Bottom Three at some point with these two.

I'm with Paula Abdul about who's going to be in the Top Four: D. Cook, D. Archuleta, C. Smithson, and M. Johns.

Replace Carly with Brooke and that's my Top Four vote.

In order of who I think is best:
David Cook
Michael Johns (I really wouldn't be able to choose between Cook and Johns except that Johns is hotter )
Brooke White
David Archuleta

I missed last night's (04/08) episode, but thanks to YouTube, I got a glimpse of the performances. Here's what I thought.

Solid/Excellent:

David Archuleta
Jason Castro

(The two had perfect song choices and gave them their best.)

Good:

Carly Smithson - Good vocals, but I don't think she picked the right song. She didn't really connect with the audience.
David Cook - Same as Above
Kristy Lee Cook - I thought it was one of her better performances.
Michael Johns - Nothing original about his rendition of Aerosmith's Dream On. BTW, er, this isn't a screaming competition, or has he figured that out yet? :vulcan:
Syesha Mercado - Nothing special.

So-So

Brooke White - I'll get right to the point ... It was a poor song choice for her. You've Got a Friend is a good inspirational song, but it's not the kind of concert/performance song you'd like to hear. It was kind of "karaoke," and anybody could've sung that song on the stage and not made a huge impact. I fear for you, Brooke. :(

I don't know why, but I have a feeling that Brooke, Carly, and Kristy Lee are gonna be in the bottom three. Based on this week's performance though, even David Cook (who otherwise totally rocks) could be in the bottom three.

And I honestly wasn't that impressed with David A's performance. Jason OTOH was by far the best this week.

Goodbye to Michael Johns. I'm no fan of his, but even I was surprised that he got booted tonight. I was thinking Brooke should've been part of the Bottom Three, along with Syesha and Carly. At this point in the competition, it doesn't really matter much. They're all good singers, some more than others.

^^^ Same here, but compared to Brooke White's performance last week, Brooke should've been the one to go ...

I agree with Simon about last night's performances. The guys definitely outdid the girls. I wasn't too impressed with Carly and Brooke. One of them has to go tonight.

Kristy Lee, your time is up ...

That Brooke White--she must have a strong fanbase to keep going on week after week of mediocre performance.

I don't get it. Carly Smithson got eliminated tonight when it should've been obvious Brooke messed up! Even Jason's performance was kinda karaoke last night. I've said it before - they're all talented, but week after week, Brooke's performance is less than spectacular compared to others. And yet she survives when her competitors have far better talent and more charisma.

^ Agreed. I actually used to be a fan of Brooke, but lately she's really been buggin' me to no end. IMO her and Jason should have been in the bottom two and she should have gone home.

Hahah! Brookie finally got the ax last night. I was starting to get worried ... For a moment, I thought she was going to win this competition and be the next American Idol. She was a mess last night, in tears as she sang her goodbye performance. Heck, when Carly was eliminated last week, she was very graceful, not a sore loser like Brooke.

I don't think Brooke was a sore loser at all. I just think she's very emotional. I'm a very emotional person, I cry at the drop of a hat too so I feel her pain. I actually think it shows strength to be able to let go of your emotions instead of being a robot, like Carly was. Brooke at least seemed to be sweet and genuine. I didn't think she was going to win anyways, I was happy to see her get as far as she did. IMO, Carly and David Archuletta have gotten further than they deserved. David Archuletta is this year's Jordin Sparks for me.....I've been annoyed at the judges' CONSTANT kissing of his scrawny, young ass.

I've only been mildly interested since Michael Johns left anyways.

I agree. Brooke was very emotional last night, as she always was every time she was part of the bottom two or three. On the other hand, I don't think Carly Smithson was like a robot at all. There is such a thing as losing with grace and dignity, which was very apparent in Carly's demeanor last week, heck, even Michaels Johns' or Kristy Lee's when each of them got eliminated. Of course, it's okay to cry and it's okay to be emotional. Even Ramiele Malubay cried but saw it through her goodbye performance. Brooke, however, was devastated. I guess I kind of perceived it as a sign of weakness rather than being strong and holding her head up high.

Wow, I can't believe there are only four of them left. Just a few more weeks, and it's all over. This is the first time in years that I actually regularly tuned in to the show.

I was really hoping there would be more spark this season. Maybe American Idol can reinvent itself or something but I think last night was a pretty good indication of how this season was. The Rock and Roll hall of fame was featured, and the show came across as a little boring. Syesha and David A were the best performances (Loved Sayesha's second song) but what was up with David Cook and can Jason please go home. Both Jason's songs were atrocious and it's time for him to go. Knowing this is the "surprise" week, I won't be surprised if someone like David A is going home.

Still, this season has been dull and I think the ratings are showing that. They've been falling quite a lot lately.

I can't stand that kid! Ya, he can sing...but really, based on his performances (same ballady crap every week) what kind of album would he make? He can appeal to the Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana crowd I guess

Give me David Cook any day! I'll buy his albums fo' sure!

And ya, Jason has got to go!

Bah, I missed last night's performances again. I was listening to the radio this morning, and some people were just DISliking Jason Castro. (But ain't he cute?) ;)

Well, I guess Jason's luck ran out tonight. He has a nice voice, yes, but his performances in the past several weeks have always been mediocre at best. If it wasn't for that handsome face and those cool dreadlocks, he would've been eliminated weeks ago.

Jason's departure has been way overdue. David Cook constantly comes off as the real professional. David A has that "cute" thing going on that young girls and Grandma's love. I honestly think David A's a "one note" performer; each week the songs just sound the same. Syesha (sp?), she's the wild card in this. Her performances have been getting stronger each week. Next week proves to be interesting. I can easily see any one of the remaining three winning. In my opinion, David Cook's the real deal and deserves to win, but given the amount of exposure these folks have been given, anyone of them can really make a go of it after the contest is over.
