All the Negative people.

Or Kirk, Spock, Riker, and Beverly grew up in a very different society language-wise than Tilly, Stamets, Aggie, Rios, and Clancy - we could say one group are the stubborn northerners who conserved more of their ancient language XD

Data said “shit” in 2371. :p
Soong either added some moderately colorful metaphors to the chip, or Lore added them XD

BTW, if you check the dialogue, Kirk and Spock note that they used profanity more often, not that they were unfamiliar with it.
Good point. Maybe Kirk banned it on the Enterprise along with bigotry, which is why we never heard it, and that also explains why Spock is surprised with Kirk of all people using it all of a sudden. And Picard only allowed french curses, while Rios and Clancy simply don't care XD

Being unfamiliar with idioms vs. unfamiliar with swearing are two different ideas. Kirk refers to Kruge as a "Klingon bastard." Sounded like he knew how to use that phrase.
Not to mention standards can change as well. There have been many ebbs and flows in language in which vulgar language was acceptable, then regulated or severely admonished. Indeed, I almost never used to swear. Since January 20, 2017, I've been swearing a shit-ton.

I like her just fine. She's a bit overexposed with everything huge apparently swirling around her but I love her relationship with Tilly, Saru, and the Empress. My only thought is its weird to make the Stoic Spock-type as your dramatic lead. Still, I am looking forward to Season 3.

One of the stupidest things I've read is saying she and Mariner are identically "mean and unlikable" which is ridiculous because the two have diamatrically opposite personalities. Mariner is the mother of all extroverts while Burnham is so internal it hurts.

I agree with those comparisons. Mariner is basically like Cocaine mixed with Speed. Burnham is like Nyquil mixed with Heroin.

"Bastard" also appeared in INS (Riker). Is that as colorful as "fuck", or much less profane?

Sisko is Zink mixed with Mead. The wine of the Greek Gods of course.

Janeway=Seroquel combined with Corn Syrup

Archer=Imodium mixed with Pepsi

Kirk=Weed meets Vodka Martini

No series will ever be liked by everyone.

And there you have it.

Personally I think DIS and PIC are bad, DIS more so than PIC, but both were huge disappointments for me. But I like LD. It is fun and entertaining.

I love Discovery and Picard, I think Lower Decks is absolute drivel. Embarrassingly so.

We're all different. We all have different tastes.

People just like different stuff.

Don't you know? Modern language does not get used in the future! Gene's Vision! Everyone uses stilted and dry descriptives because that is Gene's Vision! That is Futurism! That is Star Trek! Gene's Vision! Gene's Vision! Gene's Vision!

Gene's Motherfucking Vision.

Coming soon: Star Trek in Esperanto...(a language which William Shatnerdid a full movie speaking it).:razz::whistle:;)

They said fuck in Discovery and Picard. They are canon as well. QED.

Its one scene usage in Discovery was so lame. :guffaw: an easy way for them to get publicity I guess. Back in season 1 when they were obsessed with shock value and plot twists.
