3D interiors in Blender

Really great job. It ended up being a very interesting design and you put lots of well-thought out details in it.

By the way, what is the source for your 2-view schematic of the ship in the back hallway?

@Savage Dragon: Thank you very much! I would love to visit it as well! :lol:

I've made some last second adjustments, most notably raised the doors that lead to the aft alcoves a bit, and removed the extruded panels at the side of said doors to give the bridge a bit more of cohesion.

Here are some finished renders of this beast:

And here's the cutaway graphic, which gave me some troubles displaying the whole thing. In the end, I had to remove the aft alcoves, it was simply not possible to display them without having to sacrifice the aft consoles, and those were more important in displaying the bridge.

Ladies and Gentlemen, it's a wrap! Unfortunately Season 2 was cancelled; the ratings prefer younger, sexier starships so you're all fired while @Rekkert builds the next bridge.

Donations can be sent to the TrekBBS Swiss Bank Account.

Great job! :D

@Lt. Washburn: Thanks! Indeed it ended up being a very interesting bridge to work on. :) Regarding the little schematic, just no source, the person who ordered the commission wanted it there. The set itself probably didn't include any detail on that corridor.

@Jedman67: Hahaha, thanks! ;)

@CaptainSerek: Glad you think so! I'm curious, what are your other holy grails?

I've already started work on my next couple of commissions, as I've taken two back-to-back jobs by @Rusty0918. I've accepted the two together only as one of them is a redress of an existing set, which is almost ready. It's the bridge of the USS Dobrovolsky (which I've dubbed Dobby due to my initial inability to remember how to write the name), a Springfield-Class ship active during the 2360s. The bridge is based off of my USS Chekov design, and thus required very little redressing so far.

@Rekkert my holy grails are as follows:

USS Odyssey
USS Lantree
USS Brattain
USS Tsiokolvsky
USS Enterprise-D (Yesterday's Enterprise and Parallels variations)

Those are my primary ones, there are others like USS Defiant (The Search variation) and a couple of others but those are the basics.

@CaptainSerek: How can the Tsiolkovsky be one? We only see like... one wall... and it's a hole... :lol: I do love all the other bridges on that list, and yeah the 'The Search' version of the Defiant bridge looks sooo good with the two levels. It's so unfortunate that it was removed later.

@Lt. Washburn: There are more?

One little modification for the Dobrovolsky, I've changed the spotlights on top of the side stations to be positioned in an inverted V shape.

Also, as the ship was named after a Soviet cosmonaut, the dedication plaque follows the style of the Tsiolkovsky one, including the name in Cyrillic.

I've also started work on the second commission, which is another room on board the USS Galaxy. Can you guess which one? ;)

I recall someone did a overhead view of the Tsiolkovsky and it is on the web somewhere. The person made it make some sense based on the screen cap.

Oh wow, that brings back memories! If you dig deep enough, the thread where people helped him hash that out (based on the scant evidence visible in this screencap) is probably still around. There were also some interesting discussions as we tried to figure out how they'd tinkered with the Enterprise bridge set to make the Grissom and Saratoga bridges in TSFS/TVH. (This was long before those behind-the-scenes slides showing the condition of the TOS movie sets surfaced online.)

I haven't explored Stage 9, so maybe this has been done already, but incorporating all your bridge designs into a holodeck program where you can explore them would be amazing.

I looked at your USS Chekov design page, and according to the ortho on it, that bridge doesn't have a communications station. I sincerely hope this one does. Nobody likes to be left out of the loop.

Yeah, even with that, there's not really much logic to that bridge design... :lol:

@Savage Dragon: Haha, yeah that would be awesome, however it would require a lot of effort that could be put into rooms for the Enterprise-D itself, which is our focus. :) Given the fact that my meshes are made with photorealistic PBR (Physically-Based Rendering) rather than with a game engine in mind, a lot of tweaks are needed to get them optimized for Unreal.

@FormerLurker: No ship from the TNG era had a Communications station, as those functions were routed though either Tactical or Ops.

Yep, as @Lt. Washburn guessed, my next model is the battle bridge of the Galaxy! Today however, I've been working on finishing up the Dobrovolsky renders:

Are you going to do both versions of the Battle Bridge (Farpoint/Arsenal and BOBW2)? The latter should be fairly simple since it's similar to ones you've already done like the Dobrovolsky.

I know, I'm being greedy. It's your own fault though. Your work is just too good! ;)

To answer an earlier statement, I have a list of bridges and I always check off the ones that are done. I might publish the list although it might be in a long archived thread. Your work is excellent and I agree with @Savage Dragon, feed us greedy s.o.b's.
