3D interiors in Blender

^That's why they're still visible even at the end of Generations. ;)

Neat. I can see better from this angle that the plaque isn't on the reflective plexi but the matte panel. The LCARS buttons are on the reflective plexi.
You can see in the season 3 screencap earlier of Picard with the first version of the plaque that this was a change in the second half of the show, and the panels were initially entirely shiny; implicitly being entirely screen/control panel, albeit inactive, like the corridor strip.

Yep, exactly. That area was redesigned halfway through season 3, and both the matte cover and those silkscreened LCARS buttons were added at the same time. The matte was probably added to make filming faster, the full plexi panel could show filming equipment very easily.

Was that also when they replaced the Enterprise-D's dedication plaque with the more detailed version?

The more I look at the conn setup, I have to wonder how workable to the back two extensions of the horseshoe are for the helmsman? They'd have to turn away from the Main Viewer in order to use them, so I don't know if they'd serve a practical purpose.

Presumably those would be the less essential functions back there. That also supposes that seeing out the viewscreen is actually essential to piloting the ship (something that's only been compounded by almost every bridge from 2009 on having the viewscreen double as a windshield. ;) ).

I just noticed that all the "boat chairs" have a caduceus on the back instead of the Starfleet insignia. Nice attention to detail there.
How would we know this is a medical ship if there aren't at least 5 caduceus visible from every angle?

@Firebird: On the Pasteur we see the side panels used for Communications. Remember that except while doing evasive maneuvers or something like that, piloting is mostly an automated process, so on a ship not designed to see combat the conn should have a lot of free time.

I had totally forgotten about the Pasteur's helm console - I stand corrected!

I continue to not have much free time, and by this point I want to be done with this bridge. 😂

I've finished the aft screens, tried a few different patterns for the silver borders surrounding the LCARS and I'm quite happy with this layout, having every other panel divided in two, adds some visual variety to the bunch.

All that's left is the helm station, I'm dreading UVing that curved display. 😅

For the past few weeks we've been doing some renovations at home so everything's a mess, as if I needed any more of that hahaha. This next week will hopefully be the last.

Today I was finally able to work on the remaining LCARS and I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. I tried a bunch of different things for the two central panels on the helm, their curve and small height made a more traditional layout difficult (which was also the case on the Pasteur/Raven, those panels look quite bad IMO).

I'll sleep on this bridge to see if I missed anything, and I'll probably have the final renders ready by tomorrow.
