Amen to that. It's been a long time since I didn't know the plot of a Trek movie in advance. I'm going to try to avoid as much as I can so that I'll be surprised by what I see. (hopefully).

Agreed! I want to be deliciously unaware of any scripting, ship images or plot details when I walk into the movie theater on December 26th, 2008.

So it appears the code name for this feature is "Corporate Headquarters." If you live in Southern California and see some of those phone-pole arrow signs pointing the way to the location (If you live here you know what I am talking about) and they say "Corporate Headquarters," follow 'em and snap some pics for us why don't ya? I for one will be keeping my eyes open.

I've been out of the loop on this movie.

Is it going to be complete CGI or are they going to make models? And what classes (if there are any confirmed) of ships are they going to have?

All of the effects will presumably be CGI (Trek hasn't made models since the latter days of DS9 and Voyager; ENT was all-CGI). As for ships? The only confirmed one is the Enterprise.

That alone tells me he's aware of how important this is to a lot of people, and I think he'll do it right and do it with respect. It may just be a TV show to most people, but for some reason, Star Trek holds a special place in my heart.

You know, JJ Abrams' first feature film as a director was Mission: Impossible III. His second is Star Trek. What's Paramount got him line up for next? Beverly Hills Cop IV? The Godfather Part IV? Indiana Jones prequel? Tomb Raider reboot?

Well they've already got an Untouchables prequel going with DePalma back.

Of course, with Paramount eyeing straight-to-video unrelated sequels and/or remakes of practically everything in their library -- i.e. Face/Off 2, Days of Thunder 2, Clueless 2, Top Gun 2, Collateral 2 -- things might start to get really ugly over there.
