I like these big, epic-ish TREK flicks.
Hmm, maybe a big screen re-imagining of the Doomsday Machine?? Nah, too similar to this movie (big bad planet destroyer).
Remake of WNMHGB would be cool with Gary's powers being more cinematic in scope. Starting small but eventually show him impacting the galaxy around him.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here people, lets wait and see the box-office returns on may 10th!
Not with respect to this kind of boilerplate stuff. This is not complicated or risky or in any way uncharted for them.
They're doing this because they know it's to their advantage to do it and announce it now. Should the film not perform as they expect it to, the studio is under no obligation to throw more money after short money.
Long observation is even more fun - although if one were going to wing it in unfamiliar territory, always staking out a reasonable sounding, safe-to-conservative middle ground would probably be best. Right?
