I SO LOVE THIS SHOW! I watch the USA Network's repeats over and over again...

Absolute favorite scenes: Gibbs with any child.
And I tear up when he's remembers his daughter ... such a sad history.

I'm with ya on the "Gibbs with any child" part. Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE a fine man holding a baby and the scenes where he has held a baby or is talking with kids I just melt.:drool::drool::drool:

Yeah, that stuff about his daughter and wife is quite a tear-jerking story. I'd like for Gibbs to find someone and be happy but I did not like that Lt. Mann. I think it might have been the actress but she annoyed the hell out of me.

But if you look at her episodes, Kate was a screwup. She made huge mistakes throughout her NCIS time.

What was more surprising was that when we first met her Kate was assigned to Air Force One as the Secret Service Agent assigned to protect the President. If she were indicative of all Secret Service Agents and I was the President of the US I'd think about a change of job (or at least security guards).

My impression from those early episodes was that both Gibbs and the FBI agent friend of Gibbs both considered Kate part of the Secret Service B team. That she guarded one of the planes used as Airforce One. It seems that as a Secret Service agent she was only trained in the bodyguard mission and never worked a crime scene or counterfeiting case. By the time Zeva arrived the show had pulled further away from Navy CSI towards NCIS and having a new probi or Mossad operator working as a CSI wasn't such a big deal.

^ I would think being assigned to the President and Air Force One would be like the A Team though. President Bush (a look alike) was seen in the episode and the plane she was on had the Navy Officer assigned to carry the President's Football.

you that could make a good spin-off, a show about the people who protect the president, and solve any crimes that some how involve the President.

Coming up this sweeps on PCIU (President Criminal Investigation Unit) the Presidents daughter is kidnapped...oh hang on that happened on theWestWing

*another half baked idea bought to you by wamdue enterprises, for ALL your needs*

You would think so, but on NCIS they played it differently. She wasn't part of the President's detail she was full time on the aircraft like a plain clothes USAF SF. Besides becoming a in house profiler for Gibbs she was "the" rookie until they settled on McGee after trying different third agents for the team.

it should be remembered that this isn't a Starfleet show where Lieutenant Commanders are sometimes referred to as Lieutenant. In the US thus JAG and NCIS, Lieutenant Commanders/Colonels are called by their full rank or just Commander/Colonel. She was LT Mann 19 years before we met the character. Col. Mann please.

You weren't alone. I didn't like her either. I think it was that Army khaki uniform and her territorial attitude that got her off on the wrong foot with me.

But I'm with you - I'd like to see him find someone by the end of the show. It would have to be someone special though, and they'd have to have some way of showing us that...or the inference could be divorce #4.

^ That was one of the reasons I was so upset when Lauren Holly asked to be let out of her contract last year.

Maybe for the final season they'll cast Pam Dawber as his non-redhead love interest he can sail off into the sunset with (with his boat!).

The boat will never sail :)
Yeah...how will they get it out of the basement????

There was an episode where Gibbs said that after he finishes the boat he demolishes it. We saw it in an episode also. I think this is the third new boat since the series started.

I don't think he ever admitted to demolishing it, did he? I remember the episodes with Mann and he never answered how he got it out.

I think he did say that he demolished it but to be honest I don't remember exactly what was said. It could be that it was assumed that he destroyed them because that's the only logical explanation as to where they went.

I remember an episode where he had a sledge hammer in the basement and picked it up and turned toward the boat in the final scene. The next episode had him building a new one.

Oh yeah! You're right. I'm always so mesmerized by him in general that I can get a bit fuzzy on other details in the scene. But now that you mention it, I do remember that somewhat.
