Final Trailer!

The Popcast has posted their trailer breakdown. Like RMB, they've already seen all ten episodes. While not throwing out spoilers, they do clarify several points of potential ambiguity on what exactly is being shown.

It's interesting that they refer to Spiner's character as
"Loredata" (or Lore/Data?)
at one point...

I think you want some long, detailed answer where I give deep insights that you find interesting and insightful even if you don't agree with it... and I'd be happy to do that...

Except:
1. I just saw the trailer not too long ago and still have the capacity to actually enjoy things, so I haven't gone into deep analytical mode yet. I'm still taking it in.

2. It's 4:18 in the morning. I haven't been to bed yet. I should've gone to sleep a long time ago and am tired. Thank God I have the day off "tomorrow".

So, I'd be happy to go into long essay mode, just not right now. :p

Seriously, give it time, and I'll post something. I always do. In the meantime, good night. Now I have to try to get myself away from this computer...

I enjoy plenty of things, I really like SNW for example. This? This just looks like garbage.

There's being dark for a mood, to set a time-of-day or an atmosphere and then there's just being so dark you can't make out shit

Four hours later... Garth, I love you, but what the Hell were you doing?! You were tired, weren't you? Please don't waste any more of your time responding to this!

Bright hopeful, optimistic, humanist Star Trek, where the human characters all get along and work together to solve problems. Captained by the respected Jean Luc Picard, a wise, cultured, thoughtful, accomplished diplomat - who would rather solve problems with words than with weapons.

Sod it! that's boring. Lets have a dark, gloomy, nihilistic and foreboding show where the cast chafe against one another. Forget the thoughtful Science Fiction stories of the past - we know Star Wars is popular, so we gonna get ships blasting each other and fighting. We'll even make it literally as well as figuratively dark.

Will it be better than Season 1 and 2? Not holding my breath.

I can't say I'm looking forward to finding out who Vadic really is. I'm kind of afraid they won't make her evil enough. Like she has some kind of justifiable grudge.

Can't she just be :censored:ing NUTS?

I think we're getting a fake out with Spiner's "Lore character. Just remember what Terry Matalas said back in August:

“Brent’s character is specifically tied into the plot and the mythology in ways that if you were to show a poster, you would have a thousand more questions. And I think you want to earn it. But he plays a new old character that you have seen and never seen before. it’s, we think, a great way to do this that honors what has come before yet treads new ground.”

He also explained that the team feels Spiner’s character is best revealed within the show itself, stating that the way the character plays itself out will be progressive. When the character is revealed, you’ll think you know who it is, but won’t be quite certain if you’re correct. The answer to who he will be is not quite clear for a bit.

My theory:
1.The crew needs Data
2. Data is stored in B4
3.Only Lore’s positronic brain can handle Data
4.(After the transfer) We’ll get three distinct personalities that eventually meld into a new character (?).
*Or Lore and B4 eventually become aspects of Data’s prominent “new” personality.

It just looks dark, there no colors, you can't see sets, barely see the actors. The brightness on my TV is all the way up; this is just dark.
I agree, I’m worried about viewing this show on my phone screen now.

I asked:

“Was it a creative decision to film Picard season 3 with so much darkness and shadow, or at least what we have seen of it in the trailer.

My phone screen is not very good at displaying low contrasting dark colours.

Will we see more brightness, light and colour?”

Sometimes he replies, sometimes he does not, but I guess that he is a very busy man.

Could Rene have survived the fire?

The new character kind of reminds me of Trip Tucker.

Which is a bit of a shame as Spiner himself has (perhaps rightly) been enjoying killing off the Soong Androids which are so strongly associated with him that it's probably legit hurt his career in the process. "Oh yeah, you're the robot dude, right? Can act like wallpaper paste? We'll call you back."

As we can see when he's allowed to just have fun acting he's quite good and even in some cases can full blown chew the scenery.

Someone did apparently screw up a bit and define him as "Lore/Data" which suggests he will become Lore/Data or already is to a degree from Lore based shenanigans or whoever locked him up in the Self-Aware Megalomaniacal Computer Storage wing at Daystrom.
