Is it me or did Riker look like he was being lowered wearing a back brace while grimacing in pain?
Let me guess - the new cappy is a hardass we're supposed to dislike because he's not impressed by the legacy characters, but he'll win us over by the end of the series. Not a favorite trope; I expect I'll be just as happy if he ends up eating vaccuum.
Other than that, looks fine. Interesting that Geordi doesn't seem thrilled to see Jean-Luc & co. show up and that we still don't have a hint of what's going on with Deanna. Thinking again that Raffi's son and/or his family are going to get offed, which is why she's angry enough to draw a weapon on Worf. Seven's looking grand. Let's see where this goes.

I didn't get a hard ass vibe from the few lines in the trailer.
To be fair, not wanting to stick around for additional good-byes or on the off-chance of being rebodied was Data's choice. I'd hope Picard at least broke the news to Geordi more gently than he handled Soji.
Ahhh, several spoilers I've heard over the last six months now connect in my head... Really great trailer.
In anticipation of season 3, I'm actually watching season 1 for the first time (today was 109). A lot of the Worf and Raffi action looks like it could be set on Freecloud? And yeah Raffi's estranged son with the pregnant Romulan(?) partner are there.
BTW, damn.. yes, justice for Hugh. I knew in broad strokes that was coming, but the how it happened. Bloody hell.

Yeah, I'm still salty over that one. The most useless, mean-spirited death in two seasons. I mean, hell, at least Icheb got offed as character motivation for someone he actually had an on-screen relationship with. XD
Didn't Matalas say the Titan-A captain was by-the-book, similar to JLP in TNG S1?
Speaking of the possible son of it all, Ed Speelers is 34, way too old to play a character born post-Nemesis. He is however the exact right age to play a secret son born during season 2 of TNG while Crusher was working at Starfleet Medical.
Actor age doesn't always line up with character age. I think he could pass as late 20s.

If twenty-somethings can play teenagers on TV, surely someone who's thirty-four can play someone in their twenties?

No reason why not, but the reason early/mid-twenties actors get slotted in to play teens is because they can work longer hours than teen actors. There's not much practical reason to cast older for a twenty-something character (especially in projects that have hopes of sequels or spin-offs), so it's probably worth taking the actor age into account when guessing what this fellow's role is going to be.
Trekyards is doing an every frame a pause in depth examination of the trailer right now if anyone wants to check it out.
Does anyone know who the actor playing the new Titan captain is? He looks/sounds familiar, but I can't place him.
