I'm guessing your noticing the wrinkles.

Her ship was attacked and boarded.
To me, they look bloody and mangled. I'm not age-shaming Gates. She's a beautiful woman who is obviously entitled to have hands that match her age.
She also has burn mark on her jacket. My guess, reckless though it might be, is she was attacked and this is where she develops her trust issues.
And attacked by someone perhaps she knew and thought she could trust.
