Spoilers Prodigy Episode Previews

Interestingly, Janeway and Tysess seem to be at ease on the Dauntless. We can probably assume that Ascencia either left the Dauntless quietly, or undid her transformation (if she can do that) and put Drednok back in the table after jogging the Diviner's memory. They of course don't show any screenshots of Asencia. I think I would like it better if Ascencia continues her covert mission for a couple more episodes.

Combined with the episode's title card (which shows Rok on the ground in an Arena-like setting), I wonder if some of those screenshots show Rok recalling something of her past, with the others comforting her.

The official episode description: "A Starfleet Admiral digs into the past of the Protostar crew. Meanwhile, the Diviner recalls his life’s mission." Also striking: apparently the entire writers' room gets credited, which last happened with "A Moral Star" two-parter. The intention of that is to split the monetary reward among all the credited writers, if I understand it right.

Seems like the Diviner gets back up to speed, which is bad news for Janeway and the Protogies, whether he remains on board of the Dauntless or not. Since the starfleet admiral is indeed very likely Janeway herself, it looks like she is getting a good view of the situation. I suppose she must have gotten more info out of Frex, as he has a wealth of info from the visit to CR-721, and possibly from witnesses at the Denaxi depot (or did Okona already run into the Dauntless?). It may be funny to see to what extent her conclusions/presumptions will track with the truth.

The premise of the episode may also mean we could learn more about the rather nebulous backstories of Zero and Rok in particular (maybe some about Jankom's sleeper ship, too).

A trailer shown on Nick for the rest of the season, has new footage
https://twitter.com/the_nexus_uk/status/1598734171504902144

Recorded via phone, so not the greatest quality.
Exciting footage in spite of the quality!

Some wacky images there, on the (sea) ship!
The title card image from the episode Mindwalk - 1.18 and pegged by one of the Hageman brothers as his favourite - shows VADM Janeway and Dal in the spacesuits, we can now say.

Otherwise, highlights are the following:

-the Dauntless firing phasers at the Protostar, possibly to force it out of warp
-an enormous Starfleet fleet 'welcoming' the Protostar
-Ascencia and the Diviner on the bridge of the Protostar (though another shot shows the Protogies together on the bridge in what seems to be much the same situation, wonder what's going on there), among said fleet
-murf attacking Drednok
-Gwyn and Ascenia fighting each other on the bridge of the Protostar
-the Protostar, under control of the Protogies, evading fire from the fleet that was mentioned ("they're many but we're fast") - this seems to imply that Gwyn won her fight

Based on those images, it seems clear that Ascencia and the Diviner continue to be very much on the same side with the goal of destroying Starfleet. And they will get on the Protostar, somehow.

We can make out the names and registries of two of the Starfleet ships. One of the Centaurs is NCC-42043, which would be the the USS Centaur herself, and a Sovereign class, which appears to be the USS Sovereign, (NCC-7)3811. The 7 is cut off in the shot, but 73811 is one of 3 registry numbers given for the ship in non-canon works.

They should put the adverts for this show on the interweb instead of just on TV. They might get higher viewing figures if they used the power of the web to promote the show more?

This was an advert made for and probably by that TV channel.

I wonder what the Diviner will think/do once Gwyn and Ascencia start fighting (with at least Asencia quite likely to go all out for a kill, as Gwyn is a traitor who stands between her and the completion of her mission), if he is still in any position to do so at that time. Would he again chose his mission over his daughter?

Asencia also used the term "progeny" in episode 16, without the Diviner first using the term. I wonder if it is normal for the Vau N'akat to be so distant from their own children, or if this is because of the procedure used (cloned offspring may not be considered a "real' daughter or son by the Vau n'Akat in general and/or Asencia and the Diviner in particular).

Wild prediction for the end of the season:

it may be that they fail to make contact with Starfleet-at-large that doesn't involve a welcoming arrangement of phasers and torpedoes, and instead the Protostar ends up entering (accidentally or by design) an anomaly that will bring it to the future at near the point where Chakotay ended up.

Possible motivations for that:
-to disarm the living construct, it may be that only some specific Vau N'akat are capable of doing that. The prominent, masked, third member of "The Order" that was shown could be a candidate to to so (if the Diviner or Asencia can't or won't do it, and Gwyn nor the others find a way either). So they go seek this person out.
-to find and rescue Chakotay and crew. We were told that the story between VA Janeway and Chakotay will be developed in the second season, and I guess that the "Protogies" will be deeply involved in that storyline. VA Janeway would likely be onboard the Protostar in that case, having been brought aboard somehow due to the plots of Asencia and/or Diviner
-meta-reason: to make sure the crew stays together on the Protostar (at least in early S2), away from conventional Starfleet, but with VA Janeway onboard so she gets to know them well, and possibly with either the Diviner or Ascencia present as well (as a captive or after a late change of heart).

Only two this time, they don't want to shown anything regarding VA Janeway I suppose.

The episode description: "When the crew gets trapped in the holodeck by a mysterious malfunction, they aren’t sure what’s programmed or what’s real."

It's a bit funny for those who have viewed multiple Star Trek series since TNG: a malfunctioning holodeck is the norm, nothing mysterious about that!

However, it does seem strange they even go - all together - in the holodeck at this time (would they have used the protodrive before they do so? In that case, maybe they feel safe now).
The "mysterious" may refer to sabotage (Ascencia or the Diviner using long range communication, as happened in "Time Amok"), or to something left by the takeover and partial rewriting of its systems at Solum but I also wonder if holo-Janeway may somehow be involved (following some specific set of old instructions, maybe)? The screenshot shown of her apparently starting the holoprogram (which may be devised as a sort of training or simulation of a specific away mission, possibly?) is notable, and a recent interview did say that the hologram would make surprising decisions during the final episodes - apparently both good and bad ones.

After the datadump in "Preludes" , one thing that still isn't clear is how the Protostar ended up, coming from the anomaly, deep in Tars Lamora with the ramp open. Nor is it clear why the Diviner - quite correctly - assumed he would find the Protostar there.

Could ‘Ghost in the Machine’ be another bottle/filler episode? Fleshed out in the holodeck though? It does look good. Holodeck stories have always been fantastic escapism for the crew such as the Sherlock Holmes escapades of Commander Data and the EMH’s adventures as Baowolf. Our Man Bashir was a fantastic holodeck James Bond spoof! I wonder if we will get any other spoofs that we recognise from pop culture on the Protostar holodeck? Fair Haven was also favourite of mine too. :D

After "Ghost in the machine", wondering if one of those might be on the holodeck. Though there is also a fight between Gwyn and Asencia, but then this could be simulated too (or erupt after the party that gets tricked finally realises this).

In all situations, multiple Stafleet ships are visible from the bridge of the Protostar so it seems like probably the same situation.

Another observation: the space walk meeting between VA Janeway and Dal looks like it's taking place at Warp...

They’ll be fine… as long as they stay inside the warp bubble.

First look at the episode "mindwalk": https://trekmovie.com/2022/12/12/get-a-first-look-at-mindwalk-episode-18-of-star-trek-prodigy/

synopsis: "Desperate to warn Starfleet of their dilemma, a daring experiment goes awry as Dal inadvertently swaps minds with a Starfleet Vice Admiral."

Wow, so that is how they will finally communicate with VA Janeway! I would never have guessed that, though there have been body/mind swap episodes in ST before (most recently one on SNW). I wonder how they do this, maybe they reactivate Dal's implant and bring out his Betazoid genes, or something? I wonder how the spacewalk-at-warp ties into this, is this going to be metaphorical (only in their minds) or litteral (an actual space walk, though then VA Janeway would need to escape Ascencia's clutches)?

Speaking about bodyswaps, it looks like Ascencia-the-promising-young-Trill-ensign is back on duty: https://trekmovie.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/pro-118-preview-03.jpg
So she can easily switch between her true self and the Trill persona, and apparently she has managed to hide VA Janeway or get some kind of explanation for her being knocked unconscious.

Very excited for this one, now it looks that they are finally communicating.
