Bad experiences at sporting events

This can be about any sport.

Some that I remember:
-I was at an Indiana Pacers game back in November 2015 and some guy in front of me kept yelling swears at nobody. He kept leaving about every ten minutes to get more beer. I remember that a woman next to me said something to him after they made contact and I believe that he touched her on her hand or something. Then we were given these inflatable boom sticks. We were supposed to hit them at once when we were told to. He started doing it on his own. He then pretended to start humping it and not long afterwards he left for good. Admittingly, I wasn't that invested in the game to begin with (I was there with a group as part of an event).
-On a more funny note, when I was at the 2014 Indianapolis 500, there was some guy who had a beer between his legs, was passed out and leaned against a fence. He was like this for at least 30 minutes, likely more, all the while cars were racing basically right behind him.

Drinking is the only thing to do in Indiana, right??

I've never really had a horrible experience, but I hate sitting around people at baseball games that have no idea what is going in. I usually get stuck right in front of some woman who literally has no concepts of balls and strikes.

The worst experience I ever had, was when I visited Philadelphia and attended a game at Citizens Bank Park...wearing the visiting team's gear.

Turns out that this is a very bad idea in Philly. I hadn't done my due diligence in researching this before I went there.

The old Boston Garden had a buttload of obstructed view seating and it was cheaper so it was what my parents always bought. In some cases it was near impossible to even see the game. In one of those games at one point I tried to kind of bend over the stairs to see better and some guy spilled beer on me.

Another time at a Bruins game I had some really good seats, but I don't quite remember the reason but it was a solo seat and my parents had different seats, and the guy sitting next to me was whistling loudly the entire game and he was the kind of type A personality who constantly half-mockingly talks at shy, quiet people.

@JirinPanthosa, the Garden didn't have air conditioning, did it?

Man, if that's true, it must have felt like a damn sauna in there. Heat exhaustion would be off the scale.

I have travelled to Rams games in various stadiums. Candlestick was a dump, but usually good natured fans. I just went to Levi's Stadium, and it was pretty good too. Nice facility.

One time, I did make the grave error of going to a Raiders/Rams game in Oakland. I wasn't all decked out or anything. Just a Rams baseball cap. But that was enough.

Before we got in, guys were yelling at us in the parking lot (not in fun, but scary yelling), and when I went to use one of the porta-potties, they started rocking it back and forth. Once it gets physical, I think you've crossed the line. Anyway the day deteriorated from there. The fact that the Raiders won probably saved my life that day.

Back in college, I was in the marching band. There were some stadiums that were very obnoxious, but not usually more than a thrown beer from the student section. Of the early '90s ACC, Clemson's fans were the worst. I have heard plenty of other horror stories about bands in foreign territory, but not much happened to me. It may have something to do with my playing bass drum and having two large sticks in my hands! :D One UGA fan did try to grab my mallet once as I marched past, but one wide swing later, he quickly regretted it.

@1001001 - I wonder if, when the Raiders play the Eagles, their respective fans have a contest to see who can treat people more like shit.

Especially in the old days of Veterans Stadium, which literally had ITS OWN COURTROOM AND JAIL.

Funny. I went to a Cubs / Phillies game at Citizens Bank a few years ago and wore my Cubs hat and no one gave a shit.

^ You were lucky, then.

I wore Mets gear when I was in Philly and I was harassed by:

- passersby on the street (when I went out to get a cheesesteak)
- stadium security
- concession workers
- and of course, fans inside (and outside) the ballpark

Things were pretty safe when I visited Independence Hall but most everyone down there was tourists like me.

Would I go back? Maybe. I still had a good time - CBP is a nice ballpark and I saw some good games. (The other minor annoyance is that Philadelphia's subway system is stuck in a time warp from 1981.) But IF I return, it'll be 'undercover'.

I didn't call attention to myself either. In fact I hardly made any noise whatsoever the whole time. I certainly didn't act obnoxious or threatening to anyone else. All I did was wear stuff.

When I wore my Braves stuff to Wrigley, people talked my ear off about where I was from and what it was like there. I see people on TV all the time on TV at CPB in Braves stuff and they still have both their eyeballs. Are you sure you weren't wearing a Phuck Phillies shirt?

A while back, I was at an Orioles game where someone screamed "hit a grand slam" when there was nobody on base

I've been fairly lucky. I think about the worst experience for me was going to an Iowa game and it just started pouring down rain and rained most of the game. We wound up leaving in the 3rd quarter because Iowa was so far ahead by then. Kind of disappointing for the weather to turn out like that. Another time I took the L from the hotel up to Wrigley Field. I wish I had gone sooner, the train was absolutely packed.

If we're talking weather, I'd have to say the week I spent in Chicago for opening day 2011. I still had a good time, but it was like 22 degrees the whole week. Very cold, and wet, and probably the most miserable weather I've been in at a baseball game. (The only reason I went that early was because it was literally the only week out of the entire season where the Cubs and Whitesox were in town at the same time.) I remember I got off the red line outside US Cellular Field and there was very thick fog all over the place. Couldn't even see the stadium.
