your PALE MOONLIGHT

If Picard was stationed at DS9, he would have easily saved the entire Alpha Quadrant from the ravages of the Dominion war. And done so, as you said quite clearly, without firing a single shot.

Wow. No. I actually think this deserves its own thread.

This has got to be the most pointless discussion in the history of the internet. What truly saddens me is how much effort everybody has put into it.

Regarding the possible ramifications of Picard's decision. Both the Voyager and the Enterprise NX crews were visited by Starfleet time travellers who came from way beyond the 24th century. The Federation survives. What if? is futile :borg:

Also, and its very important to remember this, Picard doesn't just 'make the moral choice' (as if thats something to be ashamed of). Rather, Picard has to abide by Federation law and when Hugh becomes an individual he is entitled to the same legal rights as every other living being.

Ah the benefit of hindsight. Sisko gets the pass but Picard? No, lets wail on that guy.

I don't think everyone gives him a pass. The point people I think are trying to show is that Sisko's actions are more believable than Picard's.

It's easy for me to sit back and judge someone else from a chair regardless if it's fictional or not.

This suggests that taking any two decisions, the one that's less effective is the more believable one.

I'm not ready to throw Sisko in the stockade. Why are so many Niners ready to burn Picard in effigy?

...Um, yeah. Seeing as this is a major surprise in this book (the major surprise), I woulda put that behind spoilers.

Um, yeah, I'm gonna go ahead and ask you to put your quote in spoilers too. It's a 25-year old book, but thanks for the suggestion.

P.S. The individuality virus didn't work only insofar as it did not get to the rest of the Collective. The ship it infected was successfully freed. There is nothing to suggest that the logic puzzle would have fared any better. We'll have to keep hurtling hatred to each other on other grounds. That is if logic matters in such discussion.

That would mean both were on equal footing which I don't think they were given the situations involved during those episodes specifically.

I see your point about the Picard hate but it's just poking fun more or less. You might like the Yankees but I like the Cubs so naturally I or you think your team is always above reproach in some way.

P.S. Cubs Win!

It's not pointless if people enjoy conversing about now defunct shows on a forum.

Any new news on corn?
