William Shatner Apologizes For Star Trek V

I like The Final Frontier, It's not the best Star Trek movie. It certainly has it's flaws, but the character moments are all pretty solid sans some corny jokes. Mr. Shatner doesn't need to apologize. However their are quite a few people who need to apologize for the abomination known as Star Trek: Generations. I can never forgive it for the death of my Captain.

Actually, he would have been dead by that time anyway. At least, his death happened on screen. Instead of being cited as a historical fact.

Oh I know that but the way his handled was just weak and a waste of a good character. His "death" in the Enterprise B part of the movie was much better and how it should have been in the ending too. Perhaps he sacrifices himself again trying to save the Enterprise D. Sadly it wasn't the case.

BTW, it must have taken some work to Picard to dig that grave, without any tools?

I've been wondering: William Shatner's looks have changed so much, now, does he keep going under the knife, or what's going on? Maybe all of the back & forth of haviing weight gain and dieting, again, has contributed to it? Either way, he's looked bad for some time. It's not surprising the reboots have avoided using him.

It's very likely that's he's undergone a few elective surgeries, indeed.

Geez, the man is 85 years old. He doesn't look that bad for 85 years old.

He's 85. And it's maybe 20 years since he accepted that the wig wasn't convincing anyone, so if he wants to keep wearing one why shouldn't he?

Perhaps ... but it's my considered opinion that he's not looking well. It might not be all that incredibly long before Mr. Shatner gives up the ghost. But when he does, I know I'll be affected. In the meantime, it's good to know that he's the same workaholic he ever was. I find that very inspirational about The Shat - he's got a great work ethic!

There was some interview, or another, from way, way back in the day that I saw on YT, I believe, where he was saying that he never understood the mindset of actors who are choosey about their projects. He went on record as saying he'll take any and all work offered him, though I'm assuming that's with the condition of the price being right. But outside of STAR TREK, has he ever been involved in anything truly noteworthy? Nothing comes to mind! Oh! Denny from Boston Legal, that's right. Otherwise, yeah ... he's not particular about his assignments. But God love him!

Maybe that planet doesn't have any animal life forms. They had better hope that there's no big predators like tigers or bears or the crew of Enterprise would be easy pickings to them.

Someone noted that the grave looked too small: I theorized that Picard was stranded there a long time and had to eat most of Kirk to survive.

"He was Starfleet's greatest Captain ... and delicious to the very end."

And he was getting fat. (his horse should have been a Clydesdale).

Shatner has nothing to apologize for.

"The Final Frontier" has too much going for it to be a failure.

People wanted Shatner to fail.

"Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade", and "Batman" were too much box office competition.

The character interactions. The imagery of Kirk climbing El Capitan, climbing to God. The set designs throughout the Enterprise A, particularly the old ship wheel. The use of shuttle craft. Good Costuming. Fantastic Goldsmith score. All great elements. Nothing to apoligize for.

I appreciate what Shatner tried to do.

Bad special effects have a charm; look no further than tv TOS, or classic Doctor Who.
