I hope and expect to one day see a Matrix sequel about the messianic return of Neo bringing about a true peace and understanding between the Machines. The ending that was suggested by "The Second Renaissance" but instead we just got a tense ceasefire.

The three Matrix movies tell the story the Wachowskis wanted to tell, so no there won't be any more movies, at least not from them. Maybe in a few decades when they decide to retire and sell the film rights to Disney or something we'll end up with a whole horde of sequels, prequels, side stories, in between stories, and telling the same story from another character's perspective, and other spin-offs but for the time being, the three movies are all we're getting.

Just like they won't make anymore Harry Potter movies because the last book was made. Well they created another movie called the Hobbit. Thats harry potter type movie right? Why not create a movie with Agent Smith in it?

Whhhaatt? The Hobbit was first a completely unrelated book long, long before Harry Potter existed.

Though everyone here remembers the story I wonder if they will be able to launch a new story that could entice new comers. Just in case anyone is wondering I didn't mind the sequels though they do feel slightly tacked on after the superman ending of the first and the two sequels could have easily been one movie.
A tale showing humanity rebuilding could be interesting or showing the confrontation between those wanting to stay in the artificial paradise and those that didn't (something I believe the mmo covered).
