What Part of Baker Run Your Favorite?

What part of the Fourth Doctor's seven-year run is your favorite? Mine right now is of his stories with Leela and the audios based on the period. :)

Then start a thread for the Right Baker and declare your undying adoration for him. I know there's the 2 of you who love Colin, and Joy, and I like all the Doctors, there's none I dislike. Are there anymore of us who adore him or at least can enjoy his episodes?

I like so much of The Tom Baker run, most of the Sarahjanes, Leela and Romana (both) were all fabulous (Though the Season with the Cactus dude after the Dodeccahedron and the Leisure Hive and the carnivorous Vegetation on the Planet where Metal is so rare and valuable was probably the weakest part of the run). Romana2, Leela and Sarahjane are among my favorite companions.

I like his first year because I enjoy his contrast with Pertwee. However, I think he really hits his stride in the Key of Time year. He's obviously enjoying himself and he's got the role where he want's it by that time. Also, he has terrific chemistry with Mary Tamm and even John Leeson's voice (credit to good and witty writing). There are some Control Room scenes where it all moves very slickly. In later seasons it seems like a job for him. He probably stayed a couple of years too long.

It reaches its peak with the Leela stories particularly the stretch from Face to Sunmakers which has only one bad story, Invisible Enemy.

His final two seasons/series. As a kid, it really wasn't until "Destiny of the Daleks" that I really became a Doctor Who fan and that story locked in Tom Baker as my favorite classic era Doctor.

Season 14. Not only is it my favorite Baker season, it's probably my favorite season of all Doctor Who (the only real contender being Series 4 with Donna). It combines everything I love about Doctor Who: The Fourth Doctor, Leela, Philip Hinchcliffe, and Robert Holmes.

Definately the first few seasons with Sarah Jane as companion. The show just kinda lost something for me once she left.

Though season 18 had a lot to reccomend as well.

Quality-wise, I think the Hinchcliffe/Holmes era is the best. Emotionally, though, there's something about the Graham Williams era that I love.

Since I've rewatched the episodes in the past few years, I can definitely say the JNT season is my least favorite. Even though the Graham Williams stuff got silly, it was fun to watch.

My 4-year old will tell you any episode with K-9. He's a robot dog and he's very smart.

I enjoyed Tom (and Colin) Baker all the way through, but I'm quite fond of the Key to Time season. Part of it has to do with the chemistry between Tom and Mary Tamm. Although I know I'm in the minority, I felt they worked better together on screen than Tom and Lalla did. I'm really looking forward to the next set of Big Finish audios which will be reuniting Tom with Mary.

Really, that's the minority position? From posts here over the last couple of years, I thought my preference for Lalla Ward (Though I do also like Mary Tamm quite a bit) was the minority position, heh.

In terms of overall quality, Hinchcliffe, though each part has its own stories I'd consider 5*. I find the Williams era pretty shoddy (especially season 17), though The Ribos Operation, The Pirate Planet and maybe City of Death are all top scorers, and season 18 is a huge dramatic shift that doesn't exactly work for the most part, but then Logopolis is probably my favourite Tom story. But yeah, Hinchcliffe marked an overall high in quality for perhaps all of Doctor Who.

No doubt because WWOR ran them often enough to permanently imprint them on my young brain as "my" run of the series, Seasons 12-15 inclusive. Within that, a tossup between Seasons 12 & 14 -- and if I absolutely have to pick, then Season 12.

In general Ward is more popular than Tamm though this board seems more even. Personally I prefer Tamm, though I would happily watch either Romanna over Sarah Jane.
