Unreal Engine 5 and Game Experience

Developers are preparing to release games with the newest Unreal Engine 5 graphics engine and it looks fantastic.

See for yourself - apparently one of the first games to come out with the new engine and it looks gorgeous:

I noticed one small detail that impressed me nevertheless. The character is fighting a boss in the snow, performs a special attack that misses and leaves a long groove in the snow.
The fight continues yet the groove in the snow remains where it was created - usually games in the past would "reset" this at some point ( i assume due to more limited RAM space) but this one remained for the rest of the fight creating a more realistic game experience ( if you would have time to notice and enjoy this while you hectically beat up the boss).

There have been other Tech demos for UE5 that looked even more stunning and are not distracted by the fast pace of an action game and i can't help but wonder how AAA games using this engine will start to look like in the future.

How important for you is visual appeal in games?

I enjoy it very much and gives a great scope if the game shows off the potential of its technology. I like the Assassins Creed games for that very reason as your character is able to climb certain high spots like buildings or mountains and the game then does a 360 panning around the character to show the landscape, which looks more amazing with each new game.

Damn.. Unreal 5 is very powerful judging from the Matrix demo. Of course you need top of the line equipment to handle this.. PS5, XBox Series X and a high end PC but it looks gorgeous ( Gameplay elements were unimpressive though, in that sequence it seemed just like simple button mashing, no real skill involved).

Oh, of course you have. Every time you've heard someone say they saw a ghost, or an angel. Every story you've ever heard about vampires, werewolves, or aliens, is the system assimilating some program that's doing something they're not supposed to be doing. -- The Oracle "The Matrix Reloaded"

Any hope the developers will continue Grant Morrison's ideas which inspired heavily on where we might see ghosts, vampires, werewolves, and aliens?
