TNG Episodes That Cheer You Up

There are enough threads in the TNG Forum focusing on the negative. And ... I don't know about you - OK? - but I LOVE this series! For me, TNG is the equation that works. Even when I'm feeling blue. It's exceedingly rare that I feel down, but when I do, I'll put on my favourite shows and I've got that big ol' Tom Sawyer grin back on my face, again. Amongst my feel good shows are "We'll Always Have Paris," "Angel One" and "Conundrum." So, what about you? What TNG episodes can lift your spirits like nothing else can?

Q'pid is the Robin Hood adventure -- I was into that show, for a while, some time ago. I'm a professional Artist and this was during my Pre-Raphaelite phase. I was all into Shakespearian themes, Celtic influences ... all that good stuff. And, sure enough, I'd have to put on Q'pid to sort of reaffirm my interest in the Middle Ages and all that, once in a while. I was diggin' it ...

"The Schizoid Man". The Data and Picard scenes are priceless.
"I can safely say, that to know him, was to love him. And to love him, was to know him...
Those who knew him, loved him, while those who did not know him, loved him from afar.
"

TNG is the comfort food of TV shows for me. It just makes me feel all cozy and warm inside and I watch it when I want to feel that. It's hard to even pick specific episodes because the whole show just makes me feel at home.

This! I particularly go back to season 1 or 2 for a relaxing TNG, that deep-space-spooky-loneliness vibe they have is weirdly soothing to me.

The best ones!

  1. THE MEASURE OF A MAN
  2. Q WHO
  3. THE ENSIGNS OF COMMAND

  9. YESTERDAY'S ENTERPRISE
  10. THE OFFSPRING

If I have to pick only a few special ones to me, 'Who Watches The Watchers', 'The Bonding', 'Legacy', 'Clues' and 'All Good Things..' have a special feeling.

The one where Data eats a cake of himself.

Q episodes always cheer me up. Something I could also say about his Voyager episodes. In fact the one I enjoy least is the DS9 episode (however I did enjoy seeing Sisko knock him out).

As for episodes I watch to cheer me up, I'll usually put on something like Elementary Dear Data, The Big Goodbye (or another holodeck episode), or something silly like Genesis, Parallels, Phantasms or Rascals or a crossover episode like Relics.

Deja Q.

Excellent one liners, a mariachi band, and this:

I have to agree about the Q episodes. I love his sarcastic comments and jokes.

MR Homn's behavior during the dinner reception in "Haven" always makes me laugh.

The scene with Picard (or more correctly a duplicate of Picard) is leading a singalong in Ten-Forward in the episode "Allegiance" is also hilarious.

But in fact, almost all of the TNG episodes makes me in a good mood.

The episode when Capt. Picard calls Lt. Barclay, mister broccoli. The look on his face cracks me up!

I can't remember the episode but the scene with Captain Picard Day, with Riker saying 'Make it So'.

Also Picard painting a live model and Data finding it hard to compliment his work.

Matter of Perspective also one of my favorites.
The difference in the perspective was fun too but Data basically telling him is painting was bad, priceless.

TNG is pretty much my favorite series of all time right now.
I watch other stuff just to give it a break but after a while I HAVE to watch it all again.
I also do the same with DS9 but to a lesser degree.

Yup. Deja Q is about tops in my book for uplifting fun times. Others that put me in a good mood...
Thine Own Self: It's comforting to finally see Troi push herself & then Data making friends with another kid is always good for a smile

Parallels: You can just tell that everybody is having a good time with this one. Guest spots, easter eggs, & general wackiness

A Matter of Time: This one's got a very good recipe of humor & good performances

And a silly as it may be, I'm fond of Emergence. David Huddleston yelling "Vertiform City!" How is that not a good time?

Hollow Pursuits, the Broccoli introduction. Also a good choice

#1 is from The Pegasus, & # 2 is from A Matter of Perspective. Both fairly heavy episodes for Riker, which is why they added in those fun openers. Another dark one with a fun opener is Schisms, with Data's Ode To Spot
