I think that sounds dumb and goes against everything they're trying to do with her character. There totally needs to be an episode called that before the series end, especially considering her background.
Are you sure that’s the way you want to respond? Sounds a little troll-ish to me.I think that sounds dumb and goes against everything they're trying to do with her character.
Not trying to be a troll. But dumb is dumb. Are you sure that’s the way you want to respond? Sounds a little troll-ish to me.
She shouldn't have to change her name. It's probably one of the last things she has that connects her to her parents and brother. She and her family did nothing wrong. It's everyone else who is in the wrong because they judge her based on something that happened generations before she was born. What’s really stupid is she hasn’t changed her name when it bothers her so much.
Hitler is not number 9 in the world for last names at the moment. She has not reason to change it beyond her peers discomfort.Yeah, but you have to change to fit the world, it’s not going to happen the other way round (sad but true). If my surname was Hitler I’d change it, even though I’d have every right to keep it.
How common was the name "Hitler" in pre-WWII German-speaking countries? If he was a "Schmitt" or "Muller" would there have been a mass of name changes?Yeah, but you have to change to fit the world, it’s not going to happen the other way round (sad but true). It's confusing how they expect it to work with her and Kirk's backstory as a prequel to "Space Seed"I wish they hadn't of stuck La'an with the Khan backstory. It's lazy and the character doesn't need that.

As for an episode called "The Wrath of La'an", only if it was a comedy.
I'm really looking forward to seeing how that resolves itself, to be honest. Pre 'Space Seed' Kirk will have a slightly different view of Khan, won't have met him etc, but will still be aware of his history. It's confusing how they expect it to work with her and Kirk's backstory as a prequel to "Space Seed"

It's more like they don't give a shit about continuity and don't want to admit they rebooted. It's confusing how they expect it to work with her and Kirk's backstory as a prequel to "Space Seed"
Good thing I don't really think of SNW as a prequel and more of a reboot.

It really is.Dont hate the show but I just wish it was a bit more original and it's own thing.
No.It's more like they don't give a shit about continuity and don't want to admit they rebooted.
Because Kirk knowing a descendant means...It's confusing how they expect it to work with her and Kirk's backstory as a prequel to "Space Seed"

Hah, when I watched that scene I was pleased to see Kirks typical optimism but surely the audience was aware it was going to go tits up once David was born? He's not the first parent to think life was going to go a certain way only for the realities of parenthood clash with the myth. Carol, Jim and a baby? I give it 12 months. He's with Carol, and raising David (part time?).
"Everything" is different.
A socially well adjusted David Kirk is never going to invent Genesis using protomatter.
Except it shows he knows who Khan is when in "Space Seed", he needed Spock's PowerPoint presentation to inform him.Because Kirk knowing a descendant means...
...nothing.

Remember also cloaking devices were amazing and new in "Balance of Terror" except they were known for 100 years since Enterprise and Discovery. The remake of BoT glossed it over and treated pulsed phasers very differently to the original. It's only a TV show.
