The Sir Patrick Stewart Topic

I can't believe no one has mentioned his role in L.A. Story yet. It's small, but I love him in it.

"E can 'av ze chikken."

Whenever people ask me "why didn't they give Picard a French accent, how difficult could it have been?!", I point them towards two things:

- A Youtube video in which someone combined the majestic TNG opening with an audio clip of Sir Patrick saying the iconic first few words in his utterly terrible French accent
and
- His restaurant owner character in LA Story, who is disturbingly hilarious indeed.

People never ask me again after that.

Here's Sir Patrick's entire appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert:

Was just watching Sir Patrick on The View. He asked Whoopi to join him on season 2 of Picard. She was so happy that she got all choked up and teary-eyed. It was sweet.

Yeah I'm waiting for the video to be put up on Youtube. Always takes a little while but maybe they'll hurry a bit more now, given how much attention this is probably going to get... ;)

They'd have to deage her using CGI. As an El-Aurian, she should still look like she's still in her mid to late 30s.

One of my favrotie Patrick Stewart roles, even though it's tiny, is as the Maitre D for the restaurant L'Idiot in the movie LA Story

He interviews Steve Martin to see if he is worthy of getting a reservation at the restaurant, and it's just hilarious

"You think with a financial statement like this you can have ze duck?!?"

Sir Pat absolutely CRUSHES it on Star Trek: Picard. I've only seen one episode, but I think PIC may already be my favorite of all of his performances as Picard.

That said, I hope he and Sir Ian are still working on The Merchant of Vegas. Now THAT I'd like to see. I totally love it when movies based on Shakespeare works are set in the present day but with the original dialogue (Romeo + Juliet in California, Hamlet in New York City, etc.) and I suspect that a Vegas version of Merchant of Venice would also be awesome.

He already did something like that, although he did it without Sir Ian: Here. I didn't get to see the play myself tho, sadly.
