Turns out Starfleet Academy special guest star Tatiana has terrific taste.

"My husband's a big Trekkie, and so he and I watched Wrath of Khan and stuff like that during COVID, but now I'm going back, and I'm watching Deep Space Nine.

My husband refers to it as my stories because I'll be sitting in the tub with my laptop, just like, 'Ohhhh! Oh no!' And laughing. It's like my soaps.

Like, I love it so much. It has something to say! It's not a one to one about anything, but it talks about things in a way that you can feel this catharsis of watching shows that have a moral compass while also being 'That guy's a shapeshifter who literally becomes a liquid form and goes into a bucket every 16 hours, and he's my dream man, and I love him so much.'

It's the best. It's the best."

Am I imagining things or is it more often than not Deep Space Nine that’s singled out as the one show actors mention in these kind of interviews when they join a Trek production? I wonder if it’s just genuinely the show that newcomers would find the most entertaining to watch or if it’s more like their agent or even the studio is telling them that Deep Space Nine is like this “insider tip” show that will get fans to take your Trek watching credentials super seriously. Probably very cynical of me to even think that. But it is something I noticed and wondered about, because it’s almost always the one being mentioned.

It is a complex question. I noticed how much Connor Trinneer and Dominic Keating fawned over the series when hosting DS9 talent on their YouTube shows. I think part of the answer is the number of actors who saw TV as their paycheck, the stage as being their lifeblood, and the writers did more to employ their theatrical talents. People who take acting seriously might see things that are more easily relatable on a professional level than the other series.
