This is the 3rd worst episode of the series. Tje script was terrible and the episode didn't even really feel like it was a DS9 one.

I'm surprised this got eliminated so quickly. I think it's an excellent script with fantastic twists and turns.

Expect the unexpected with these games, indeed.



Taking out "CHRYSALIS". Honestly, for my wife AND myself.

For her part, she finds the Jack Pack annoying. For mine, this is now the SECOND patient of Bashir's he falls for. The first time with Melora was already bad enough, but at least it can be understood slightly because he was younger and was only CMO for barely a year at that point.

But here? You're much older, a seasoned officer and combat veteran, and have been CMO for over 6 years now. He should have known better.

"Extreme Measures." The weakest part of the final arc, by a mile. They were doing so great with the juggling of multiple storylines, and then to slam into this single-story episode that isn't even a good single story... a journey into the mind of a character we've barely seen and aren't that invested in?

It's such an unfortunate off note in that otherwise exceptional run of episodes.

This is my least favourite season of DS9 and "Image in the Sand" introduces many of the elements that I don't like. Up until this point, there's been an excellent balancing act between the religious and the scientific aspects of the Wormhole and its inhabitants. That ends with the religious elements being treated as the "true" ones. Sisko stops being regarded by the Bajorans as having a religious significance and becomes an actual god. Sarah is treated appallingly by the "gods". Then there's Ezri. If she'd just put in an appearance for a couple of episodes, she would have been fine. As a permanent member of staff..no.

It's Only a Paper Moon, I never liked Vic, him doing Ezri's job when this episode was the perfect opportunity to see her do her actual job is a massive missed opportunity. The idea that Vic can prevent his program from starting is ridiculous and deciding to let his program running so that he gets a chance at "real" life is stupid. He's not a person, he has no life, he's entertainment.

I'm sailing TACKING INTO THE WIND into an iceberg. Having Worf just make a mess that huge and unceremoniously drop it in Martok's lap never sat right with me.

Far as I'm concerned, Martok should have grabbed that robe, shoved it back on Worf, and said "you deal with this, pa'taq!"

Eliminating What You Leave Behind. Being a great finale doesn't automatically make it the best episode. This episode has too many threads, but unlike Call To Arms, they are not balanced out. I could praise lots of specific elements, but this needed to be three episodes to cover everything. (three two-hour episodes.)
