The Least Disliked Episode 2025 - DS9 Final Rounds

BlueStuff

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
Here we have the winners and runners-up of each season - and now, it's time for the final rounds.

*RULES*

Give what you consider to be the worst/your least favourite episode ONE point, and briefly explain WHY. Be sure to copy and paste the list with your point added. When an episode reaches 4 points, it is eliminated. Then a NEW round begins (in this thread) with the numbers restored to 0. Vote ONCE per round. If 48 hours without a vote passes, the episode currently leading in points will be eliminated, and a new round will begin. And enjoy! :bolian:

"Treachery, Faith, And The Great River" Weak pairing of A & B story, they undercut rather than enhance each other.

I am going to go for "The Quickening". This was a good Bashir episode and it doesn't have the twist of apparent failure followed by success of so many of these kinds of episodes. It ends with hope for the future. Unfortunately, I don't find the episode very interesting. I have noticed through these games that I am not very fond of episodes directed by Rene Auberjonois, and this is one.

DS9 Finals are always very tough for me because the ones that do make it are always so very, very awesome.

I'll vote for "THE HOMECOMING". Only because while it is complete episode and tells its story, it isn't the entire story of the trilogy.

This is gonna be hard. First vote to "The Quickening". It's one of the two weakest overall, and child me disliked it because Bashir want successful, though I am definitely more torn about the ending now.

Homecoming is getting my vote. Somehow in the early years, the writers liked making Kira super impulsive. Certainly, they relied a lot on Visitor, but it ages an episode like this, setting up a trilogy of episodes.

The Homecoming, I never cared too much for this episode. It's all setup which is expected for the first part of a multi part story but it doesn't make for a good experience watching it. On its own the episode simply doesn't work.

The Quickening strikes me as the least impressive here - good, but not good enough is, unfortunately, the best reason I can offer at this stage and every stage when DS9 comes along. Thankfully, the next series up will give us plenty of variety and legitimate reasons to be critical, even among the better episodes. ;)

So Move Along Home is my--- oh, wait, wrong thread.

Voting for "Treachery, Faith, and the Great River" because Mitchell and Apollo were a lot more fun* as far as Trek gods were considered. Especially when 40 feet tall, at least for Apollo. Also, how he got the laurel leaves and toga to grow with him, we will never know...

* not "funner", which isn't a word... yet... ...checks dictionary... oh wait, it is... dang... but it's only been in use for decades, and isn't anything as gaudy as the syllabic diminutive "merch", so there's that... I guess... and digress... checks dictionary... okay, "merch" still isn't, but is used as a colloquialism-driven sense than an actual defined word, so there's that... and another ellipsis hamburger icon...

On edit: Ensured "Last edited: A moment ago" would appear, cuz I'm pedantic...

Much like The Quickening, Treachery Faith and the Great River was not the strongest in its own season and while still being good is just overshadowed by the rest of the list.

As funny as The House of Quark is it's not as strong as the other episodes.

There's a trope in which the Villain organised an Overly Complicated and Elaborate Plot in order to achieve something that seems trivial or pointless. The complexity of the Plot means it not only fails but gives away the Villain as a Villain.

That is how I feel about "The Jem'Hadar".

I like the camping trip (if Quark's presence seems improbable) and the interactions between Nog and Jake. I like the Jem'Hadar themselves. I am happy with the Vorta (although I think they improved). It's the plot that's the problem.

"Treachery, Faith, And The Great River" again. I feel like the title gives away how half-baked this one is. It's just a list of story elements! Like the episode itself, it's a lot of promising elements that haven't been all the way shaped into Classic Episode form, like the rest of these have.

"The Homecoming" is weakened by not telling a complete story; it's all setup. And Li Nalas is really over-hyped by the other Bajorans. All he did was kill a gul. Hardly unique in the resistance.

Removing The Homecoming. Not the right one to represent the trilogy. Richard Beymer didn't quite get in the groove.

This is the hardest show to eliminate episodes or vote against, because so many are just so damn good.

I reluctantly vote for "THE JEM'HADAR".

Great episode, but I just like the others either a little or a lot more.
