The Least Disliked Episode 2025 - TNG Final Rounds

Redemption and Chain of Command are my least favorite episodes remaining, so it's bye bye Redemption and a vote for Chain of command for the new round. Same reasons as before.

The Best of Both Worlds, Part I - 0
Yesterday's Enterprise - 0
The Drumhead -
Chain of Command, Part II - 1
The Pegasus - 0

My choices for the two least-favorites are still here, but I like the other just too much enough (grumble) not to vote for it, despite temptation to go with the sound of the crowd. I still have to vote The Drumhead.

And now, here's a brief and exciting intermission, brought to you by The Human League:

"Chain of Command II" again. I don't know as its a hill I'm willing to die on, but it's certainly a hill I'm willing to stomp my foot and wave a defiant fist on.

I am THRILLED to finally cast the vote that offs "Chain Of Command, Part II"! Took long enough!

Next round I give my point to "The Drumhead." I can't even articulate anything wrong with it, I just know the others resonate more with me.

Really, this is just trying to find tiny things that I don't like about an episode, or simply what I like slightly more.

Which is why I pick "The Drumhead" for my vote this round. Only slightly less favored than the others in my book.

I vote for The Pegasus because Pressman is a really annoying Badmiral. As misguided as Satie was at least she thought she was doing her investigation for the right reasons and worked within the federation's legal framework, Pressman was a self righteous ass who broke treaties his own government signed willingly.

Finally! The Drumhead goes!

This round I am voting for "Pegasus" mainly on the grounds that it isn't quite as good as the others (and slightly n the grounds that it was used in THAT episode in ENT)

And "The Pegasus" is out. Can't believe Federation diplomats were dumb enough to agree that Starfleet would never use a cloaking device. Major strategic blunder. I don't know that Pressman was right -- it's never in one's interest to be known as the kind of major power who doesn't abide by treaties -- but I certainly share his exasperation.

Which brings us to the Big Two. Though I love "Yesterday's Enterprise," it doesn't have the same resonance through the rest of the franchise that BOBW does.

So glad that Chain was drummed out, it was another "still great, but still generic plotting, lacking sci-fi worthy of TNG".

I recently rewatched my next vote - which is a very difficult one to make. It's one of the best, has a gorgeous battle scene, first rate direction, a good take on the "Mirror, Mirror" concept ever as it's situational rather than personal, and the use of Yar's drama to give her a better death also gives way to a great sci-fi creation later on, but other scenes are pure and unbridled soap opera and there's one scene that has one of the best-ever outtakes... But Locutus, converting Picard as their latest form of adaptation technique for expansion, and the big invasion aspects simply can't be beat. Which is saying a LOT, because the time travel element used is well above average for sci-fi whereas it's more for the authentic-looking appearance of the Borg that elevate them more. Then again, it was too easy to fathom that Picard would be converted. Dang, this vote is a struggle. So I'll flip a coin to get it over with: Heads, it's for YE. Tails, it's for BOBW. Thankfully the only coin in my pocket is two-headed as I'm not going to flip a thin piece of tempered galvanized metal until I get the choice I want, and maybe the Enterprise crew could have been a little more differentiated at times, though everyone still works just fine given the limited causality alteration.

The Best of Both Worlds, Part I - 1
Yesterday's Enterprise - 3

Now I implore remaining voters, can we get this up to a 3/3 tie?
