I think we need a season 3 thread now, or rename this one
At Tuskin38's suggestion, here is the thread for Superman & Lois Season 3. Less than a month to go now! :techman:

Here's the new trailer Tuskin38 posted:

That's a well-composed poster. Very artistic. Although I can't help but notice that they've made Jonathan 2.0 smaller than the others, like they're hoping we don't notice he's a different guy.

The links below will take you to a couple more CW promos for their overall programming slate, including sports, but both contain some additional footage from the new season of S&L. The first is not much (unless you're heavily into golf), but the second includes some pretty impressive Super-action.

If you hadn't mentioned it, I probably wouldn't have noticed. LOL

First look at S&L's Lex Luthor (spoiler-tagged in an excess of caution since it's from a future episode):

Between Supergirl, Titans, and now this, I guess bearded Lex is the new normal?

Superman and Lois
Season 3 - Episode 1 - "Closer" - Season premiere

SM/Clark:
Clark missing Tal-Bro...the series should let that character fade away, and not show up Calvary-style at the end of the season, just as Superman and Son are overwhelmed.

Lois: Initially, I thought the possibility of Lois being pregnant--with this series' roots-- would not allow that to be a happy event, with Lois (and the child) becoming a target. Well, it turns out she's not pregnant, but had symptoms mirroring early pregnancy...only its something else...

Irons / Natalie: Sam and Natalie bonding over horror movies...interesting. Diggle revealed Earth-prime's Irons was murdered by Manheim, so one wonders if Irons will (ultimately) become obsessed with defending himself (and Natalie), thus causing a rift (well, another one) between father and daughter. The wrinkle in all of this might be Earth-prime Iron's sister--how she ties into Manheim's predicted revenge plot (now that she's Lois' doctor).

Uh oh...Sam going behind Irons' back to recruit Natalie into the D.O.D. academy? I knew that was not going to go anywhere pleasant, I just did not expect Natalie to have such a negative reaction, especially in the wake of her wanting to don "the suit" so often (i.e., join the ranks of professional do-gooders). I do appreciate the plot sort of wrapping up the tension between Sam and the Irons family, and I feel Natalie will find herself in a situation where she feels she needs the support of the D.O.D....

Manheim / Intergang: Once Manheim discovers the existence of another Irons who just so happens to have a connection to SM, you can guess that will be the relationship he exploits to cause nightmares for both--probably using Lois as bait.

The resurrection of Henry / Atom Man scene was a wee bit reminiscent of the reprogramming of Bucky in The Winter Soldier

Lana / Kyle / Sarah:
When last we left Lana & Kyle, Lana announced she was divorcing him. As noted in the season two finale review, I would like to see Kyle and Lana reunited, but while the teases (Lana never having enough time to finalize divorce terms / feeling the growing family vibes when talking to Lois) and seemingly final decisions were all packed into this one episode, I hope Kyle--in an emotionally vulnerable state--does not decide to use Chrissy as his emotional crutch, only to dump her if Lana changes her mind. I see this soaper-plotting running throughout the entire season, but I can put up with that IF in some way, Kyle and Lana finally find each other again.

Town Hall...appropriation of funds...seems like this will be ground zero for something terrible, since the former mayor was being rather cryptic about the reason the funds were earmarked.

Jordan / Jonathan II: The brothers' struggling with learning important skills was a nice touch; they're both trying to wear the "man pants" but being 16-year olds, expect some major stumbles at the worst possible moment.

Ahh, but just when it appeared Sarah was close to rekindling her romantic relationship with Jordan, she friendzones him..on the eve of his birthday party (SEE NOTES).

NOTES:
After a lackluster and often misguided second season, Superman and Lois kicks of its third season with a well-constructed episode promising a few interesting arcs.
Sarah essentially asks for space and understanding. Perhaps she's weighing the pros and cons of being involved with a super-being who will always throw himself into danger, and she sees more potential negative outcomes (an obvious contrast to Lois' life / decision).

When Dr. Irons informed Lois that she was not pregnant but needed more tests, my soap-opera senses flared up, fearing the Lois arc of season three has her contracting a serious disease, or, after years of involvement with a Kryptonian, she's presenting with a heretofore unknown genetic mutation which Dr. Irons has no way to address / treat.

Strong, layered start to the season.

GRADE: A.
