Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man (Disney+)

The most notable thing about Nico is that she doesn’t have super rich, mega evil parents it seems.
They hinted at her being adopted maybe?

Rather, that she had a foster family. I noticed that her foster mom (apparently) was named Mrs. O'Hara -- an ancestor of Spider-Man 2099, perhaps, or maybe we'll see a reworked modern-day version of Miguel O'Hara.

Yeah, I just watched episode 2 and that kind of surprised me, it's a pretty big change.
The stuff with Pere and Osborne was pretty good, I think this is going to be a fun relationship. I do get a kick out of the fact that they have Osborne in a green suit, which is a pretty clear reference to Green Goblin.
Peter's fight with the two thieves was pretty fun, definitely curious what the significance of the logo on their tech is. My first thought was Oscorp, but Osborne seemed confused by it, so if it is Oscorp tech, he must not have given it to them.
Lonnie's story seems like an interesting way to get him closer to how his comic counterpart is usually presented.

I'm caught up now; they dropped three at once this week, but I've been watching one at a time. The writing is quite good, and I've gotten used to the animation style, though I like some of the character designs better than others (this Aunt May is kind of weird-looking).

The animation looks more second tier Marvel artist than Ditko. The heavy line makes me think of Jim Mooney (and others)

You're talking about the design. Animation means movement, how well the characters' motions and performances are created. I'm not crazy about the character design style, but the actual animation, composition, and camera work are pretty well-done.

Eh, I think people get what I mean.

Yes, we do. Most people would refer to that as animation. Is it technically wrong? Absolutely. But since it's what most people mean these days, everyone understood.
There was no need for anyone to correct you.

I was clarifying what I meant when I referred to animation. As I said, I like the animation, in the literal sense, more than I like the character design.
I didn’t quote you or mention you. I was making my own observation unrelated to anything you said. Then you quoted me to presumably correct me.

I think this might be the best-written Spider-Man animated series ever, and that's saying something. It's really surprisingly good. The character work is rich, the dialogue is strong, and the action scenes are very creatively choreographed and shot. I've even come to be quite fond of the character designs and animation style, despite my initial reservations. The end title theme is terrific. And I'm starting to feel that Hudson Thames is a really good Peter/Spidey, one of the best ever.

I'm a little surprised that the show is TV-PG, skewing older than most previous Spidey cartoons, allowing for moderate violence and profanity. I'm fine with it, but I was expecting something a bit more kid-friendly.

Hudson Thames would be a good animated Spider-Man if he only dropped the straight word for word/cadence of copying Tom Holland

I think that's just the way Thames talks. When I saw and heard him in the trailer for the live-action How to Train Your Dragon, I found it a bit jarring that his Hiccup sounded exactly like his Peter Parker. (Not because there's anything wrong with his Peter Parker, just that it sounded incongruous coming from Hiccup.)

Also, I like Thames as Peter better than I've ever liked Tom Holland as Peter.

(Incidentally, does anyone know whether he pronounces his last name like the river in England, or like it's spelled?)
