You've only been here a few months, if you find the time to read my posts I really don't think that "Liberal/left" is the term you would apply to me.
Although it's possible that I'm to the left of you?
...Sheeeesh, More lib/left "Hate the Majority" type "groupthink". By any chance are you a minority? (Being a WOMAN is NOT a "minority") I do not mind a little liberal thinking, but when it is based alone of Cultural Marxism dogma that makes no sense, then it is time for you to consider rethinking your position.
Hardly a hate the majority situation. My intent would be more the Humans would be "a sojourner in a foreign land,” and in an environment that they (and the audience?) would find new, challanging and even a bit awkward.
Having a Human on a Starfleet vessel is comfortable, you would be surrounded by a large number of other Humans (not all) and a social culture where you fit in, because you grew up in it.
Now put the same Human in a foreign culture, far from home, they don't know all the rules, they sometimes struggle with nuance, and they make mistakes. The other people on the ship (mostly non-Human aliens) aren't going to adapt to the Human/federation ways of doing things. I believe in diversity, so I wouldn't want the Human(s) to assimilate, just being in a position to learn.
If this was set during a time when the federation is in conflict with another civilization, and a part of the mixed crew is from there, how would this effect relations between the Human and them?
